I just hung the newest art acquisition on the wall. It is another Huichol piece. The ram used was about 14 years old judging by the curl.

Yep, that is what make original handmade art so great. What one loves someone can hate but there will be another piece of art out there that they will love.

My first thought was WOW! then I saw sideview, how the ram almost caught the marlin and I was Double Wow!

Seriously, tho, I find it beautiful. masterful work.

I also appreciate the round island piece, I think it was in another thread, so maybe came home from a vacation??

My current "art collection" contains (sometimes whack) clothing I'm making for my own art therapy. I'm getting good feedback and sales, so I'll keep going.

I'm taking last minute trip for use-em-or-lose-em points, toting several of my favorite unfinished projects and sewing machine. I have no idea how the oceanfront view is going to inspire me but if I just deal with the last picky details of about a dozen pieces, I will be in good shape for next local art fair in early March. It will be last push for fleece and faux fur until fall shows, and I'd rather sell than store the bulky stuff so any stock at least 2 yards is coming along. Some coats and vests I can make quickly, turn remnants into hats, gloves, scarves. I think I could be very happy tying my own fringe onto a piece I call Southwest Sunset Cloak sitting on my balcony in the southeast...

honestly, I just need a change of pace. get out of here for a bit to where there is no housework or crap I gotta repair, just do the "fun work". Extra bonus to have 2 bathrooms to sink wash and hang the satin and loose knits.

My family would think I am nuts so I'm not telling them of my plans. Just gonna go, breathe ocean air, and see what happens.

It will be chilly at the beach. That's how I will "suffer for my art". Yes, poor me, forced to take a vacation rather than lose the prepaid vacation.

but, painting? no skill here, no skill at all.
