Should I buy Title Policy?

I am purchasing a Marriott Grande Ocean week, sales price 6K. Is it wise to get a title policy when the purchase price is in this range?

I guess that depends on how you feel about risk and 6K. Normally Marriott doesn't seem to have an issue with titles if the week was originally purchased direct from Marriott. If it's been sold two or three times since it's original purchase, my inclination is to buy the title insurance.

A few case in points:

Apparently, there have been occasional issues with old Sunterra weeks (now DRI) being recorded correctly. In the Hawaii forum under one of the discussion threads about the Point at Poipu, one person had a deal fall through because the deeded week was recorded incorrectly.

At a resort we own, French Quarter Resort in Branson,if I understand correctly the now bankrupt developer did not even bother to get the deeds recorded after purchase. Many weeks are now in limbo pending what is turning out to be a lenghthy bankruptcy proceeding.

It's rare but there are the occasional problems with getting a clear title. I don't necessarily trust a lot of these bulk resellers or PCC's on E-bay to get things done correctly. I can see where there could be some issues somewhere down the road with titles that have not been recorded correctly.
