Just posting an update to this thread to say that Marriott took this week through ROFR, so I didn't get it.

Buy a Fixed Week Monarch. No ROFR; trades with both RCI and II; exchange for Reward Points every year (another Tugger says only if you buy from Marriott); you know exactly what your Week is every year; inside Sea Pines right on bike path. Downside is that the units are somewhat smaller and that there are a limited number of Weeks that look out right over the ocean.

1 st Class,
How long did it take for Marriott to exercise the ROFR and which resort was it for?

I'm approaching 30 days on one and am trying to convince the closing agent to get written verification of the date the ROFR was received so the agent can proceed on day 31.

I will tell you same thing I tell all new people thinking of buying a timeshare. If you want others to talk you out of buying then you should already understand you shouldn't buy.:crash:

Only buy a timeshare if its for your own use and every other reason is just a backup!:ponder:

Thanks for the suggestion. I would consider a fixed week, but work and school schedules make fixed weeks more difficult than floating. The appeal of the week I negotiated was that it was a floating oceanfront unit, and those seem to be few and far between for the right price. However, no ROFR may be enough to convince me to consider others.

About 10 days and it was a Barony oceanfront unit. The closing agent said without a doubt it would pass, but I really didn't believe it would.

Which one are you buying and is it an oceanfront unit?
