Attention walmart shoppers

Walmart limits the number of customers into the store
they pre-santitize the carts
they police the six foot limit at the self check-out section

and there is no toilet paper - until the regular 10:30 truck arrives ... then the TP is quickly cleaned wiped out

:)

I have not been able to find Lysol Wipes or spray anywhere. I did get alcohol pads.

We stumbled on the penultimate 24-pack of TP today at Smart & Final. Made up for watching the last one picked up as we rounded the corner into that aisle two weeks ago. Still no paper towels, and apparently just missed them (at 2pm) because I saw them in carts. Finally found rice and egg noodles too. Mom raided her hospice stash and gave us gloves (a whole box which we won't open yet because we are using up a box of "painting gloves" we bought years ago, masks (10), Clorox wipes and "personal wipes". Couldn't find salt today, but not desperate. So things are better here in that we won't need to go to three more stores to get everything we need. Would have bought half & half, but didn't like the April 20 date so will probably go out again mid-late next week. They are telling Californians not to go out AT ALL for the next week, but hard to relate to that since the state as a whole is doing pretty good with the stay at home rules. I hated wearing a mask for the first time and I guarantee I touched my face with my gloved hand far more than I would without the mask. We both had issues with our glasses fogging up because of the masks.

@clifffaith, what do the gloves protect you from? You realize you can't get the disease from just touching something with your hands, right? It's when you touch something contaminated and then touch your face (eyes, nose, mouth). By your own admission, you said you touched your face more with the gloves on, so it would be better to not wear gloves and just wash your hands. Just food for thought!

I like Gloves as when I am done I remove carefully, discard. Even though my hands are now clean I sanitize too. Washing is not always an immediate option and sanitizer can miss spots.

That is bad if they put out the whole skid at once. I just talked to a local retail employee. She said they stagger putting out the TP so more people have a chance. Not everyone can shop at the time the shelves are filled. I hope every store limits amounts of purchase.

Brewster Green (two weeks).

Harris Teeter got a shipment of Lysol disinfectant wipes day before yesterday. The store shopper who fills the online orders was so excited that she called me to tell me they got them, paper towels and toilet paper. She wanted to substitute brands though on paper towels and toilet paper which was fine with me.

I think the most confusing thing in this is that we are being told on the federal level to not go out. Don't go to the store, etc. Yet, Gov. Newsom says California will peak in the middle of May. Is staying in this week what is keeping the peak held back until the middle of May? If so, does that mean we are going to be SIP for a couple more months? If they just told me today that I am going to be SIP until July, I would go ahead and order a desk and an office chair for work at home. With my income taking a drastic hit, I don't want to order it for a couple weeks use, but my back will appreciate it if it's going to be several months to get something else to use as a work station.

I don't mind wearing a mask. After seeing that gross video that I think @DaveNW posted about the saliva spray that lingers when people talk, I may keep wearing masks after this has passed. Oddly, most people walking in my neighborhood still aren't wearing masks. And, they seem to fear me when I'm wearing one. I'm not the scary one - they're the scary ones.

Last week I couldn't find TP anywhere, but this week it is not an issue, so supply chains are doing their job. We are good for a month now. But social spacing is becoming an issue. Witnessed strong words being exchanged in the check out lineup at my local grocery store yesterday morning, and a woman ahead of me insisted on about 15' spacing around her in the lineup. An employee policing the line, asked her to tighten up a little but she refused. Everyone has their comfort zone, but I thought she was being a bit much, and there is realistically only so much spacing one can do in a busy store.

A friend's daughter got chewed out by a senior-aged man last Thursday. She has two little kids at home (3 & 10 months) and a husband with asthma so she was wearing a mask and gloves. She asked this man, who was behind her in the check out line, to step back to the line that was indicated on the floor. That unleashed every ounce of anger inside of this guy. He screamed at her that it was no big deal and here she, a healthy young woman, was in line all masked up making him move back from her. I guess it went on for a few minutes, but she's not easily intimidated and mentioned that is was about on par with her three year old's temper tantrums. Tempers are running short. We had a another tenant in our commercial building pull a gun on someone because he thought that the SIP orders weren't being respected (turns out that business was one of the essential ones). People are getting crazy.

And some people come by it naturally. :)

That is why we haven't set foot into any store since just before SIP-SAH order came out. Too many things can go wrong and catch the virus when you are around people.

Are you seeing discarded gloves all over parking lots in your area? Not quite as disgusting as discarded condoms, but pretty bad anyway. I'd seen pictures on Nextdoor and Facebook, but one close up of trash doesn't do justice to a whole parking lot full of gloves! Smart & Final had a trash can right near where you return carts (if you are courteous), which is where we put our carefully peeled off gloves. Otherwise, there is a little cavity in the trunk of the car where we stuff them. They can hibernate there for a few months.
