Probably good advice/warning. I sure wouldn't hire some el-freebo 'I'll drive your car to___________ for $XXX.XX'. No insurance, no references, no collateral, No nothing.
By the same token, unless one is moving a rare, valuable, collector car, I wouldn't call Passport Transport (a highly specialized carrier of rare, collector, and pre-production vehicles). But 'regular' movers like Mayflower, United, Allied, etc. Are insured, and have open car carrier equipment, that- if you are not in a big hurry for the delivery, can be fairly inexpensive- Though no car hauler is truly cheap.

A couple of years ago my 42 year old Son had to ship a car from TX to CA. He researched Auto Transport Companies on the Internet and picked one. Price was reasonable. The Transport Company picked it up at his house and delivered it to the address he gave them. My recollection is that his car was one of 5 or 6 on the van. All went well. Reasonable price; on time delivery and no damage...

We've used a company called Car Go several times and been very happy with them. It's been at least 8 years since we've used them though.
