It's been a LONG time since we've been there (Phyllis remembers, LOL)

Anyway, we had stayed (when we were there) in what appears to be #2, facing left (see this map: https://www.resortsmaps.com/map-SheratonBuganvillasResort-PuertoVallarta.html
). The "top" portion of that had a nice ocean view.
But to the right of that (also #2) was a newer/updated section/unit (we were there for 10 days, so the "top" and right portions were significantly updated vs. the other portion of #2)

Anyone know if they've renovated the OTHER portions of #2?

Else I"ll have to try to figure out how to get into that right building (LOL).

We're in a 2 BR via SFX for December.

On the linked map, the building #2 on the bottom left is Tower A, the one directly above it surrounded by the other building #2s and the pool is Tower B or C (don't remember which is which), the one by the beach is Tower C or B, and the one on the left is Tower D. In Tower A, they have finished renovating all of the units except for those on floor 20. I believe they are still working on Towers B-D; we were just there for a week and that's what we were told.

Previously we had been able to get the room assignments to our liking for exchanges into there but this time they said they wouldn't be able to do anything with an exchange we have down there for next year until much later.

I found a map. The one you have shows "2" for suites. They can be any size. (I always get B &C reversed, but looking at the map I used those for what I've posted below.)

I think you were in Building C that overlooked the pool. We were in the Tower - Building A using 4 free nights on a promo when we saw you and your dad.

Building C does need renovating and has quite a few 2-bedroom units. My brothers were in a 2 bedroom in Building C this past November and were disappointed that it was as nice as the one I had in 1680. (End unit on the 6th floor of D overlooking the ocean.)

Building B is the one that overlooks the grassy area to the ocean. B has been renovated, but are not usually available for an exchange. We got a ground floor one once.

D is the once closest to the downtown area and there are very few Balconies. Several in Building D have been renovated, but maybe one 25%. Most of the units in Tower D are one bedroom ones, but they have renovated some to make larger units. We like the ones on the end that end in 79 or 80 for our Bonus weeks as they overlook the ocean.

Pretty much all of Tower A is done. I think there is one floor that has not been renovated.

As you know, the best part of the Buganvilias is the location. You can walk so many places.

I bet that's where we end up this winter, lol.

Thanks Phyllis!

We were in a 2 BR last time, but we had to switch rooms as it was 2 weeks. The first unit had a balcony, faced the swimming pool, and wasn't "updated". The 2nd unit was at the very end of Tower D (toward the top), faced the ocean and had a gorgeous view and was significantly updated. Unfortunately the other side faced the public beach and there was extremely loud techno music each night by the various folks who spent the night on the beach. I *thought* I'd seen inside Tower C when they were cleaning some rooms and they looked updated as well. But then again my memory is a bit fuzzy.

Well, I'll ask for a balcony, ocean view and updated and see what we get. Assuming we can go (it's always a crap shoot with family issues). Fingers crossed!

Those end units end in 79 or 80 and my family's favorite because of the view. I usually requested one ending in one ending in 79 because it is has shade longer than the ones ending in 80. Mike would get sunburned sitting on the balcony. I will be in 1779 this year for my last week of vacation this year.

How did the SFX work can you give some more details about it.

SFX is a good place to acquire the Bunganvillias, imo. We used both exchange and bonus weeks. We are Diamond in SFX.

We had four back to back winter weeks using SFX and ended up in Tower D . The first week, our group was on the pool side in two one bed units. The second week we were on the other side facing town and the beach. The rooms hadn't been updated but were clean. It wouldn't be my first choice for a room but it is a great choice for location and the resort grounds are nice.

I've been an SFX Diamond member for almost 20 years now. For me, it works great. Hilton recently put a crimp in my style (Hilton will no longer let us owners deposit into anything other than RCI. We can't deposit to ThirdHome, SFX, etc. If they find out, they will cancel the reservations). Affiliate Hiltons (the SW Florida ones for example) are exempt from this "rule".

Anyway, SFX is quite strong in Mexico (non-AI resorts) and they do have a partnership with Hilton so sometimes they have access to Hilton properties I can't get into.

The bonus week pricing is pretty good, IMO. The free guest certs and free one-unit upgrades are also a plus (with Diamond). I was depositing a 1 BR Vegas Week and using that for 2 BR exchanges, but again, Hilton decided to not let me do that, so now I have to deposit my 2 BR affiliate week (bummer).

There's more info over on the Exchange sub-forum. Some folks here hate SFX as their experience hasn't been as good. (but look at the post histories and you'll see some folks are just chronic complainers--LOL).

SFX, like any other thing/exchange company/timeshare company is a YMMV. If it works for *you*, great!!
Just like some people hate Hilton and love Marriott, or hate RCI and love Interval, (or vice versa, etc.) But that's why we have choices.

I used a bonus week, FYI for the Buganvilias.

I have SFX and have had good luck with them. I have been depositing my PBEB and getting Buganvilias weeks for years for my 3rd week there each year. It is cheaper than the bonus week through the resort.

Thanks everyone for the Buganvilias info in this thread / and any future additions.

We will likely be staying there for a week or two in winter 2026.
The June 15-2024 - Vidanta / RCI restriction on Vidanta owners using other RCI ownerships to book [added] weeks at Vidanta
will likely limit us to our 2 weeks owner at Vidanta in 2026

I have been at Buganvilias for nearly 2 weeks. The first week was in the Tower on the 25th floor south (downtown) side. I am currently in unit 1779 (oceanfront unit) sitting in the shade on my balcony looking towards Nuevo. Everything has been great!

In the Tower (Building A), the only floor not completed is 20 (10th). I saw comments on Facebook that now that the renovated units are called Ambassador, those who used to have Presidential and not upgraded have a huge increase in MF and are totally unhappy.

I only have 2 more years in my Sky Suite and have paid my MF for 2025. 2026 will be my last year and I will miss it as it is great, but will not renew my contract as I would most likely not be going after I am 90 and my son likes to rent condos. I will only stay in the Sky Suite next year for Thanksgiving week and then move on Saturday to the 4 bedroom condo that he just rented for the Wednesday before Thanksgiving until the Thursday after next year in the Marina area. 3 weeks this year has seemed a little long without Mike. He and I enjoyed a week together after family left. My brother is great, but it is not the same.

Hi Phyllis,
Refresh my memory please (LOL).
No washer and dryer in the units, right?

What type of coffee pot filters do they use?

Thanks!

Hopefully we'll be there on Saturday barring any unforeseen issues. Ever since COVID, my travel luck isn't very good.

No washers and dryers in the units. There are several sets in the stairway of both the Tower A Building and Building D (the one that is perpendicular to the ocean). You can buy tokens in the gift shop - I think they come with a packet of detergent, but I never accept those because I keep laundry sheets and fabric softener sheets in my travel bag as I never know what kind of detergents they have. Some are too scented for me as I have fragrance allergies.

The coffeemakers are drip and use the round filters - they provide those. Many units have dishwashers, and they provide tabs for those too.

I leave tomorrow. I have been here 3 weeks. Week one at the Mayan Palace Marina, then moved to the Buganvilias and was in the Imperial Sky Suite 2565/2566, then down to 1779. Just one brother & I have been in town since Wednesday and we have spent most of our day on the deck listening to the waves roll in because it is an oceanfront unit.
