Shell Membership (club) fee

We own Shell points in Canada (4650 pts) and we pay over $900 per year in maintenance fees.

There is another bill that we have just received from Shell for "2012 Direct Membership Fee" of over $300. I think they also refer to this as a "club fee."

Supposedly this enables us to make transactions to reserve or exchange our points.

From what I can see with other (U.S.) Shell members, the club fees are only about $150.

Can anyone else please let me know if they are also paying this amount in addition to the maintenance fees? Or is it just double the amount for Canadian members?

Thanks
Chris

You need to call Shell and ask them. I think our bill included everything, so I don't expect to get another bill for club fees. I hope we don't, anyway.

I am still checking, but it appears that the Direct Members (including Carriage Hills) are charged double the price for the same Shell services. And this still includes a limited number of transactions, after which we are charged extra per transaction.

When you sign up for points, they don't tell you that the rest of the members pay only half that amount. So until I started looking around after receiving this bill, I had no idea what everyone else was paying for the same service. Our bill for the club fees arrives separately from our maintenance fees, unlike the rest of the members who get it all in one invoice.

Frustrating, but there seems to be no way of avoiding this fee. Without it, we would not be able to exchange, reserve or use our points at all.

I wonder if all Affiliated resort members are aware of the difference in these fees?
