I'm reading online that the Kauai Coast Resort does not have roll a way beds offered but they have "futons." Has anyone ever requested a futon and can you tell me what that is? Is it a mattress of sorts to place on the floor...or does it sit above the floor? And, are they free or is there a charge?

Thanks for your help.

Wikipedia knows all:
a term generally referring to the traditional style of Japanese bedding consisting of padded mattresses and quilts pliable enough to be folded and stored away during the day

Yes. I am familiar with what a futon is...I was looking for KCR's definition.

One reviewer wrote that the sleeper sofa was uncomfortable so they ordered up a couple futons and placed them on the mattress. That makes me think they were what I would call a mattress topper.

Another reviewer wrote that they don't offer roll a ways...but do offer futons, which made me think they could be used independent of any other bedding.

I'll call the resort. I just wondered if anyone had any personal experience with requesting a futon from KBC.
