This weekend I had the opportunity to attend a owner's update and have first hand knowedge of two other sales presentations. The following is an observation of the some points in the three presentations followed by some observations on VIP rights and improvements.
Table 1: The couple owned one or more fixed weeks at Shawnee Villege. They were being pressured to trade them in for a new purchase because they were being given special rates until Wyndham got control of the Homeowners Associations they do not control (a different Wyndham Offical at these resorts indicated that the only currently controled Wyndham board is Crestview). This is being defined as 51 percent controling interest. When this happens Wyndham will be raising maintance fees for upgrades to the aging facilities and this was a way to get out from under this.
Table 2: A re-pro was being sold for a converted week at Shawnee Villege. This sales pitch would include ARP (Advance Reservation Priority) at all Wyndham Resorts. I had permission to help this couple and the sales person had been advised was present when the permission was given (they were my guests). After I called the fact that this was not true, I was subsequently asked to leave by the sales rep. The Sales Manager indicated to the couple that he was not aware of any ARP program. A major point being made by the Sales Rep was that a Wyndham Point is a Wyndham Point.
At our Sales presentation, they wanted to consoladate all my UDI deeds into what they call a Power Deed at a low demand resort. The 1st back-up offer was for a purchase at Crestview. The 2nd back-up offer was a purchase at Fairview. The 3rd back-up offer was for a discovery package.
My complements to Wyndham, they have fixed the road leading up to the Ridge Top and Crestview (and some other) resorts. I do hope the upgrades at Shawnee Village continue.
VIP Benifits: I asked why newspapers were not being received for VIP guests. The response was that newspapers were no longer being delevered to the resorts (five on the Wyndham Computer that are handled by this Check-In location - "Shawnee Village") The Check-In area has been redone (nice job), however, no VIP check-in/out even when lines were present.
In a earlier post, I had indicated if anyone knew what was happening at Shawnee, that the information would be useful. I think this post answers that question. I think it is great the upgrades are being done at Shawnee Village. On the issue of the waterpark coming as a addition and Wyndham building new resorts on the grounds, I welcome additional capacity in the mid-Atlantic State (maybe one day Wyndham will acknowledge we are not the Northeast in their system). On the issue of the attemped takeover the Board of Directors at Shawnee Village that are not currently controlled by Wyndham, actually, Wyndham does a very good job of managing their facilities, Wyndham controled boards or otherwise. Therefore, I hope the owners of Shawnee Village that get offers relating to the attempted takeover of the non-Wyndham boards get better offers than just to give back the deeds and buy a new timeshare. The Sales Staff indicated the Waterpark and new resorts will be opening in two to three years.
