Shall we sell DC Points?

Marriott Vacation Club - Grande Vista
TUGers,

This forum has been very helpful to me even though I never registered to post or reply anything. Here is my first post.

Back in 2013 we bought Grande Vista EOY Platinum + 1,500 DC points as a bundle. The the Grande Vista EOY week can be elected to become at 2,775 DC points every odd year. For the past ten years my family have used the MVC system here and there, overall quite satisfied (my favorite is the Boston Custom House, if you wonder).

The Maintenance Fee seems too high for the DC points now. In 2024, the average fee is $0.68/pt for the elected points from GV week, and $0.95/pt for DC points (including club dues). I can often found "7VC" cash rate cheaper than the MF for points needed for the same week or days. Also, seeing the much cheaper rental value at vacationpointexchange, shall we sell much or all of our DC points, and only rent them when needed? Doesn't this make more financial sense? Can we keep our GV week enrolled if we sell all of our DC points?

Thank you!

The MF for MVC Trust Points (excluding the Club Dues) is $0.7875 per point for 2024. If you sell your MVC Trust Points and retain your EOY deeded week, you'll still pay the Abound Dues each and every year, even though you own an EOY deeded week. So, I'd suggest removing the dues component from your comparison to really evaluate the numbers.

If you sell your MVC Trust Points, and maintain your dues, your deeded week will remain enrolled. You would be able to rent points from fellow owners to be placed into your account or you could simply rent a reservation from another owner directly.

Only you can decide if you want to sell your owned Trust Points. The resale seems to be running in the $4/point range, with the buyer obviously needed to pay the $3/point activation fee. IDK how the market is right now, so it could be some number of months that you have the Trust Points for sale. It isn't going to be instantaneous.
