Hmn, just learning and learning and now out of curiosity..

Does HGVC have set price for retail sale? For example, 5,000 points unit at Flamingo is going to be 25k for 2015 or so. Or if people ask for lower price, do they give it to you? I am wondering if retail sales was negotiable to anyone.

I am one of those who paid retail and I haven't even thought about negotiating at that time considering all the sales are negotiable, especially realty ones. Now I am thinking that if it would have been negotiable. My purchase is few years old so cannot apply but I am considering many options including upgrade through HGVC(yeah, retail - chance is low due to high price but it is one of my options out there) and would like to know if anyone was able to negotiate successfully. Anyone?:ponder:

They have told me that they cannot negotiate the price. They can offer more incentives and bonus points, though.

They will often take your previous contract and trade it toward a more expensive one, giving you full $ value of what you paid for your prior contract. So, while you are still normally paying the full retail for new contract, you feel like you got a discount by the trade in.

I think the price is fixed but they will negotiate by adding one time use bonus points.

They do discount if you buy during construction, the price will go up a little as the units sell out.

I got a call from HGVC Direct Sales today, they have a special offering double bonus points for the next 24 hrs. So if you decide to negotiate with them you should be able to get double whatever bonus points they initially offer.

The price might be fixed for the first offer they make, like 5000 points at LV on the strip. But they can make you a better deal for 5000 points at Flamingo if you turn down the first deal. If they think you might buy, the incentives get even better.

I'm curious: Any reason why you'd be willing to pay so much more than what the same package would cost resale?

Is it that: [] you're going after elite status, [] prefer the safety of buying from the developer, [] feel the added bonus or HHonors points make it worthwhile, [] in a situation where the $$ is no object, or have some other reason.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing -- some of here have bought direct. I'm just wondering.
