Im going to be depositing my 2 bed lockout unit asap with RCI.

But I need advice, last year I deposited as a 2 bedroom unit, and Im trying to decide if I should split it up?

Its the Alhambra at Poinciana, silver crown.

Will I still get ok trades with the unit split? Your thoughts would be MUCH appreciated. It splits to a one bedroom and hotel room with kitchenette from what I can tell.

Thanks!

Splitting an unit is a good idea if the smaller units will still get you the exchanges you want. If you're trying to exchange into a area or a time of year when supply is much greater than demand. Then using a smaller unit is a great idea. If you're trying to get a high demand TS and /or a much bigger size then it may be better to keep it a 2 bd.

Hope that helps.

We own a 2 bed lockout at Vacation Club (Shanty Club in Bellaire, MI) that we just trade in the one bedroom side. Though we don't travel during peak times, we have always been able to pull great trades with it - the last was a 3 bedroom house at Summer Bay (during off season), which unfortunately RCI took away from us (due to overbooking on their part - another story!).

We've gotten 3 bedroom units at Grand Beach Resort in Orlando/Kissimmee (again off season); currently have a 2 bedroom HGVC unit reserved for last week in April 2009 in Las Vegas. These have all been with the one bedroom side of our lockout.

Thats great! We travel during off peak times too. Maybe Ill try it for this year, and if we dont trade well this year then we will bank together next year.

NOW ... how about the studio side?

RCI is much more forgiving than Interval when it comes to "trading up" size-wise. If your unit is in a high demand area at a high demand time, I would be surprised if you saw much difference between a one bedroom and two bedroom.

That's only based on my personal experience.

RCI won't accept studios from all resorts. I would check with RCI to see if they will accept your studio before giving them the non-studio side.

Charles

As Charles, wrote, check with RCI. RCI will not accept just trading in our studio side from Vacation Club - we have to either trade in the entire 2 bedroom lockout, or just the one bedroom side.
