A few years back, as part of our Vidanta (Vida) Timeshare Contract benefits we were given a Senior Certificate which would allow us to return to one of the Vida Resorts, without a maintenance fee or User Fee once we were over the age of 75, each year. Vida presented us with the opportunity to convert our Senior Certificate for a Senior Acceleration Program Certificate that would allow us to use the program at an earlier age, but would limit the use to 7 weeks to be used within 10 years time.
We opted for the conversion to the Senior Acceleration Program which provide us with a exchange, maintenance and Usage fee free. We used the program for 5 of 7 weeks, incurring only a an exchange fee though Registry Collection, an RCI subsidiary. We even exchanged back into our home resort using the program.
However, doing so this year we experienced a new fee initiated by Vida, a Resort Fee. The fee for a 1 bedroom exchange is $600 and a 2 bedroom will add $950, on top of the exchange fee of $295 charged by RCI Registry Collection. This fee had not been chagred to us before.
When I called Vida Customer Care, and asked to speak to a Contract Administrator, explaining that the Senior Benefits Acceleration Program stated that no other rights or privileges associated with our Contract or any Maintenance Fee or Usage Fee of our exchange with the Registry Collection.. I asked to speak to someone with higher authority but was told they would tell me that the Resort Fee must be paid for all external exchanges.
What Vida simply did was to create a new fee under a new name claiming that they provided the week in exchange without a maintenance or usage fee.
I find this to be devious and seems to be illegitimate.
Beware of dealing with this merchant.
