Any info or advice about selling a timeshare at Westin Princeville back to VSE? Health issues will prevent future travel for us.

They tell me that they never ever make an offer, but if I find another buyer they might exercise Right of First Refusal. Should I try harder to reach the right person and convince them to buy it? (who?) Seems like it would be worth more to them since their sales staff can resell for a hefty price.

Anyone else with success/experience here?

VSE does not buy timeshares back. I recommend that you contact this Tugger, Syed Sarmad, who owns a Timeshare Real Estate office in Hawaii, and has an excellent reputation on TUG.

Be aware that the resale value is going to be far less than what you paid for it - that's just the way resales go.

Another endorsement of Syed here. I have done three separate transactions with him; he knows his stuff.

Your unit is worth several thousand dollars so don't give it away; I will defer to Syed as to the current market price. Don't worry about VSE's right of first refusal. Once you have a buyer, if VSE exercises its right of first refusal, you will get a check from VSE rather than the buyer -- but for the same amount.

Is there a way to fake a purchase agreement with a friend just to see if VSE will exercise ROFR and then let them take it off your hand :)

Even in jest...this is not the best kind of post IMHO

Best advice is to work with a qualified reseller to get some idea of the value and then attempt to list in all possible methods (Redweek, TUG, Broker) to move it as fast as possible.
No need to 'fake' anything. I'm sure a broker would gladly 'firesale' the unit to get the commission and ROFR.

I'm sure there are rules on this service against advocating fraud.
