Selling SDO, paid, deposited and traded thru II for 2017 usage, how to proceed?

I have a 2 bedroom lockoff unit at SDO floating 1-52, I just paid the MF for 2017, locked off and deposited both sides to II. I traded the smaller 1 bedroom for a 2 bedroom Marriott's Grande Vista in early August.

Now that I decide to sell it, can I ask the buyer to start the usage in 2018? How can I enforce that? Will they be able to reverse my deposit and trade in II after they get the title? Am I better off selling after using the traded week in August?

Am I better off selling after using the traded week in August?
I can't imagine why anyone would want to buy it if they can't actually use it until 2018.

Completely agree. Why don't you reassess after you've used the week you've reserved?

+3 To be quite honest with you, depositing the next use year really hurt your chances of giving it away. I would try again at the beginning of 2017, and you should pay the 2017 maintenance fee.

No, the new owner will not be able to get back your week from II. Starwood's resale department keeps track of when the next available week is. Starwood rarely makes mistakes about this, but to make sure, you should request a "Resale Information sheet" from Starwood's resale department. The phone number/email address should be available in one of the "sticky threads" at the top of this forum. The "Resale Information Sheet" should state 2018 as the first year of usage.

Couple of things come to mind :

1. You traded your SDO 1 br for MGV via II - anyone taking over your SDO has no ability to access your II account. They can not cancel your exchange.

2. If you really want to sell it, I would advertise 2017 usage - that you will book a week for them in 2017 using your larger 1 br back into a 2br SDO which is readily available, explaining that you deposited usage but you are willing to book a unit for them to use in either 2016 or 2017, but their first MF would be 2018 and in 2017 then can deposit or use 2018 SDO as they wish.

Is SDO worth anything on the resale market?

I just checked redweek, there are only two 2br annual, one asking for 950, the other asking for 1500, both under contract, so I'll probably try selling it first, I'll consider giving it away for free if I cannot sell it.

Of course, if I do decide to give it for free, I'll offer it here first :) .
