I’m going to selling the Grand Mayan timeshare at Nuevo Vallarta. Am following TUG’s advice on how to proceed, will place ads at TUG and Redweeek. Looking for tips from someone who’s successfully sold, not looking for any profit, selling as low as a $0. In other words, what worked for you in terms of Vidanta? Thanks.

You need to find out how much the transfer fee is. For many Mexican timeshares and Vidanta specifically, these can be very high. It might be a multiple of the annual maintenance fee or some other number. You need to disclose this fee in the ad unless you plan to pay for the fee yourself.

If you're willing to "[sell] for as low as $0", then your best bet might just be to stop paying your membership fees and let the contract lapse since you don't own deeded property. As dioxide pointed out above, if you "sell" it, there might be high transfer fees whereas, if you just let your membership lapse, you won't have to pay any fees.

@prcmd the transfer fee might be outlined in your contract. This has changed over time, but will be honored if stated in your contract.

Also, to flesh out earlier comments, it is unlikely that you actually 'own' anything you can sell. What you have is the right to use a certain class of vacation accommodation for a pre-set number of weekly intervals. Again, outlined in your contract.

As stated above, the best, and lowest cost way out may well be to simply stop paying. Your membership will end with that.
