I am a newbie to this site. My husband and I are Gold level owners with Wyndham and we usually have excess points. We would like to use those to book reservations that might interest others. In addition to this site, do any members here have recommendations on sites to use to reach out to vacationers? Are there any general guidelines to follow when pricing these bookings? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you:)

This is not a good time to try to rent Wyndham timeshares. Current policy is that Wyndham is not accepting guest reservations through the end of 2020. Again, that is current policy. It could change but it might not. If you call the Wyndham reservation number, that is what the reservation clerks will tell you. I spoke to two of them two days ago.

There are some other threads on the Wyndham forum about this.

And Wyndham is renting out the points they control. I guess the difference is they don't need to use guest certificates.

They also said no new reservations until July, but I was able to make 2 of them in June and they took out all of the discounts currently being offered. What they say and what they do are often different.

FB groups are saying that they are allowing GC's after June 15th

Wyndham reservation clerks/vacation counselors say they're not. I wonder what the FB group's source is.

What we probably have is some info coming from individual resorts, trying to project if any units will be available after owners are taken care of, considering the resort will be at some level of reduced occupancy.

I called Skyline Tower in Atlantic City earlier today to ask about a guest reservation starting July 18. The resort is closed so the call rolled over to an answering service. The gal I spoke with thinks that reservation has a chance of surviving. (Sounds a bit like what the FB groups are saying.) I would think that demand at Skyline Tower would be intense given its location near two major metropolitan areas.

We're going to have to live with this uncertainty for a while, not knowing what will happen until it does.

With the casinos not open yet and likely lots of restrictions when they do and no concerts, I would bet Atlantic City isn’t a huge draw. Jersey is still pretty shut down.

Good points but you can't get close to a reservation at Ocean Walk in Daytona and they don't have casinos or shows.

I think it’s on a case by case basis as far as the GC go. Different states are allowing different things. Sometimes it’s the counties who creates even stricter rules. Here in Maryland, all but two counties and Baltimore City are in stage 2. The governor left it up to the counties to decide for themselves when they will go into phase 2. I would imagine, once the resorts are allowed to open to 100% they might start allowing GC. So long as the resorts are only allowed reduced capacity, GC will not be allowed. An owner said their Emerald Grand GC reservation was being honored. Maybe they are allowed to be at 100% or will be by the time that guest check in.

The difference is, in the case the Wyndham owned inventory, the owner is a company not a person. What name would go in the check in name box? Wyndham? Wyndham cannot go on vacation because it’s a company. Only a person can check in.

I have no idea if Wyndham pays the guest certificate fee and neither does anyone else outside of Wyndham. Just because they are the company, doesn’t mean they don’t pay the fee. The guest certificate fee would go to whatever pool of money GC fees go to, to use for whatever. It’s like when HR pays their IT department for services. Its the same company but they still pay. It’s just money going from one department to the next that pays salaries, licenses, hardware, etc. if the GC money pays for something, Wyndham has to put that money in the GC pool of money to keep things balanced. Even if they profit off those fees, it still have to go into the pool of money from the GC fees to keep things balanced.

Jersey restaurants aren't open yet except for take out. There is nothing to do there but the beach, which is fine, but any somewhat local people looking for a beach vacation usually go elsewhere as there are many nicer places to choose from. I am not sure if you are familiar with the area, but it isn't a good area to walk around and grocery stores are few and not great. Even if you stick to the boardwalk and stay away from the city itself, there are a lot of people asking for money and food. When I go, I carry no cash and peanut butter crackers packs, so I have something to give because some can get a bit aggressive when asking. If you take away the people going for casinos and shows, it will definitely reduce the amount of people looking to go down there. I have been to Daytona before, and the area didn't seem awesome to walk around, but I would go there if I were looking for a beach vacation. I can't say the same about Atlantic City. But that's just me :) I do enjoy the Boardwalk Cats, though.
