Why all the travel for the Lottery Dept? Also anti gambling seminars? This story was impossible to read, everyone is a mess!

For a nightly cost of over $300 a night, he must have been getting reimbursed for some of his upfront purchase price.

I also don't know why the auditor would take issue with someone earning points or miles and then not using them to reduce costs for the state. If a company said I had to use the points or miles to get free rooms for company travel, I simply wouldn't bother to sign up for the loyalty programs.

Thanks for the article. What I see here is the person from the Lottery Board wants us taxpayers to help him pay his Maintenance Fees, Club Dues and offset the purchase price of his Timeshare which is a luxury not a necessity. What we learn from this is if on government business abide by the rules and stay at hotels and use your per diem within reason.

Simple as that.

I'm actually surprised by how little he made in salary.
My father worked for the Presidents Office of the University of California and personal FF accounts were not allowed, miles went to the university. Seemed fair enough, UC bought the tickets.

Thanks for sharing this article. I am not surprised some of the highest pay state employees are lottery top officials. This article does not even mention. Lottery official bonuses. One question that signal a red flag for me . Who signed and approved this person travel vouchers? The name of the resort should have caused a question to be asked.
