We are thinking of travelling to Sedona sometime in the spring. Would April or May be the best time? We would like to have warm (75 degrees or better) weather so we could swim when we are not sightseeing. Any resorts that are favourites? I will check the reviews as well.

Thanks.

April and May don't really have swimming weather - the Avg. high doesn't hit 75º until June. Sedona is cooler that other parts of AZ, because of it's altitude - it's over 4,000 Ft.

The Avg. temps for April range from 25 - 55º

The Avg. temps for May range from 30 - 62º

Unless you are a freakin seal (sorry Fern, I couldn't resist)!! Actually, I thought some of the pools were heated to a comfortable 80 degrees all year. Of course, you could still freeze those nums off getting in and out of the pool!:hysterical: Now that I see the OP is from Ontario (Canada) maybe it's NOT so funny!!???

What is the best time of the year to visit Sedona? We were in Scottsdale last year in Feb and drove up to Sedona one day. It was really beautiful and we'd love to stay there sometime but Feb is too cold. Is summer the peak season or does it get pretty hot in summer?

Denise has provided good historical information. We frequently go up there and the end of May (Memorial Day) is when it starts to warm up but late July and August can be warm. We were up there this year in late July-early August and it was in the 90s. The good news is, once the sun goes down behind those beautiful red rocks is does get chilly quickly (especially in the winter!)

I may be from the frigid North, but I'm Southern Belle at heart. :hysterical:
Sounds like April-May is too early for us. Back to the drawing board.

Traditionally, Sedona has been a summer escape for Phoenix residents because it is usually cooler there in the summer because of the altitude. If you are interested in swimming when not sightseeing, July and August would be your best months.

Denise, I clicked on that link but it gives the temps for Flagstaff, which from what I remember is farther north and at a much higher elevation and much colder than Sedona. Couldn't figure out how to pull up Sedona on that site.

Flagstaff is the closest reporting area on that particular website. Sedona and Flagstaff are only 30 miles apart, but you are right, it is higher, so Sedona would be a bit warmer because of the lower elevation.

Dori,

I think June before the kids are out of school might be perfect for you! Recently (a few months ago) there was a great thread on here about the t/s resorts in Sedona and which was best.

Good luck!

Try October

We have been to Sedona five times. The last time we were there in October and the weather was gorgeous. The pools were heated and we enjoyed them after a long day of hiking, golfing, and touring. Another time we were there in November and although it was pretty cool at night, the days were sunny and perfect for hiking. We have been there twice in December and even saw a little snow on the red rocks. Beautiful!!! Sedona is a breathtaking place.

We were in Sedona about mid-May. We found it to be a great time of the year. The weather was great, not too hot. It may have been a little cool to swim in the pool, however, our grandkids did not think so. They swam once or twice. Sedona is a beautiful area.
