Just back from a great visit in NYC. During the visit. I stayed at a major brand that was recently renovated. The room on the surface was excellent. Just one problem. When they replaced the electronic door locks, rather than replacing the strike plates they modified them, probably to save money. As a result the deadlocking plunger (small spring loaded pin near the latch) on the mortise falls into the latch box rather than being depressed by contact with the strike plate. The resulting condition leaves the lock suspectable to shimming. I was able to shim it with my key in just 2 seconds.

For all fellow Tuggers, when staying in a TS or hotel please make sure the lock properly operates with the deadbolt fully extending into the latch box, the deadlocking plunger is pressed back into the lock when the door is closed, and the door is not loose in the frame when closed. These are serious issues which leaves the occupant exposed and when an electronic lock is shimmed, the lock interrogation report will not show an opening.
