We are off for USC graduation next week in SoCal. We will be staying at Marriott NCV and are signed up for the "owners update". We are Abound members but have a SDO 2 bedroom resale that is NOT in Abound and just wondering if or what type of offers Marriott might make to retro the resale into Abound?

Can anyone share what the "best" offer Marriott may make to retro the SDO resale week?

The practice was due to be ended when Abound launched....then it was due to be ended <insert a random date here> but as far as I'm aware it's still on the table and still requires at least $10K of new money although there were rumors that Marriott would increase that limit. I guess the only way you'll really know is to show up and find out what their current story is (and please report back on here).

I would be very cautious with the sales team at NCV. We have found them very dishonest even knowing that all timeshare sales members are just trying to make a sale.

Best regards.

Mike

We had trouble there too. The sales pitch was to be able to travel with other "Marriott people". After saying no we were treated rudely by the closer, and she asked why we wasted their time if we weren't going to buy. Lol. Never again.

realizing that it’s all technically now one company, I doubt the $10k new money is an offer available at a MVC resort sales office. More likely, if offered, it would be at a (formerly) Vistana resort sales office.

You can only retro in a vistana week with a StarOptions purchase

I’m pretty sure some folks here have reported being allowed to retro Vistana weeks with an MVC purchase. Don’t remember the dollar amounts involved though.

I think what would be more valuable is if you could do it the other way around - enroll an MVC week into Abound with the standard $10k VSN retail purchase requirement. From what I understand, MVC requires a much higher threshold to qualify resale weeks.

It really depends on the deal. Some of the Marriott enrollment deals with Aruba and Spain developer weeks allow you to enroll "up to 7 weeks" - so having a few Maui weeks in the back pocket along with some MVC weeks can't hurt.

I went to update meeting this morning and here is a brief summary of key points

* Refused to consider bringing SDO Resale week into Abound (enrolling) under any circumstances. Extreme hard line on this.

* Stuck to the classic tactic of direct trust points purchase has priority access to the inventory over legacy points

* Pointed to all the resort HOA's as setting their points requirements (deposit pts for weeks owners, pts required to stay night/week/season) - not MVWC in anyway

* MF for Trust points 68.3XX cents per point

* "Stated" Marriott is willing to buy our Barony Platinum Oceanside week for $26,200 - cash, not equity towards purchase. Cypress Harbour or SDO - $0 for

* Overall very aggressive presentation which didn't bother me, also closers are gone - seems MVWC is trying to cut costs of sales presentations compared to before

The reason they refused to retro SDO is because you went to a sales presentation at an MVC resort (rather than Vistana)... It seems MVC sales offices aren't able to retro Vistana resales and vice versa (Vistana sales offices not able to retro resale Marriott timeshares).

I really think you would be better to look at a deal using Westin Aventuras to requalify a voluntary resale. You would require a minimum of $10,000 spend which would probably work out to 44,000 EOY Westin Aventuras. That would probably run in the $13,000 range. You could get 37,000 annual for just a couple thousand more. Is your SDO a true Platinum or just Gold Plus?

I was at Grand Chateau several months and I got the same run around about buying 1000 points to get priority inventory over my vsn weeks that I convert. I called bs and they got mad.
I’m waiting for my last lagunamar week to get through the title change and I’m flipping it.
44 ,000 EOY Aventuras for like 11,600 . I should be at 20,000 points by then. My wife says no more !

That is the price we were quoted today on 44,000 EOY Aventuras at a presentation at Lagunamar. I don't think EOY qualifies for the 10% discount that they also quoted an annual 37,000 on. THen there were some other things tossed in as incentives and such and I must admit the offer was enticing. Certainly great if you are requalifying a voluntary resale but we own two mandatory resales and it just didn't seem to make sense since we already get StarOptions.

Yes, I got offered 37,000 annual options as well. 15,318 with a 10% discount. Bonus options etc…
I’m bringing in a voluntary week so I get 81,000 options and almost 3000 club points. Without it, I just own a timeshare in Cancun..
really hoping to bring it in soon. Reading the Marriott threads , it cost way way more to bring a Marriott week in, unless I’m misunderstanding.

Yeah, brining it in buying Abound points would end up costing $35,000+. So Aventuras is the best way to go.

Ok I was correct. My salesperson is trying to get someone to move my resale week along internally but I think it’s at the mercy of Chicago Title at the moment. Once it’s in my name I can do the retro. It’s been over 5 months since I purchased the lagunamar week so hopefully not much longer of a wait .
