Have looked at the Resort Reviews.

Does anyone have additional input on Scottsdale Links Resort - II - SDK, or Scottsdale Villa Mirage - II - SVG or SV2 in Scottsdale, Arizona? If so, what did you think? We are looking to do a week in Phoenix after a week in Sedona the middle of October.

My family stayed at Villa Mirage June 2010. I thought it was a great resort. The units have been refurbished, they are nice. Lockout (we had a 2br) maybe on the small size, but has a bed, full couch, and decent kitchen area (might have even a dishwasher). The main portion was a very good size, with a fireplace. Flat screen tv's in all units.
I think they had a decent number of onsite activities.

We drove around to see some other resorts, Links being one of them. I didn't see the inside of the units, but from the outside, I didn't think it was nearly as nice as SVM.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back to SVM.

I've stayed at both and would again if the price is right, usually cheap Getaways on II. The smallest unit at the Links is a 1BR, much better then the studio at the Mirage. Don't forget to add in the Internet fee, $30/week at both places. If you can get the Westin Kierland or Marriott Canyon Villas for just a few dollars more it's worth the upgrade.

When you are in Sedona, consider going up to Page, AZ, and seeing the Upper Antelope Canyon. Here's a place to start your research. It is one of the most amazing sites I've ever seen and it's worth your time. There are some interesting archeological sites along the way.

Head north on 89 and take the little loop road 395 to see the Wupatki Nat'l. Monument. It would be worth spending a night in Page to see Upper Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell & Horseshoe Bend. Try to schedule your Upper Antelope Canyon tour so that you'll be inside it at noon when the amzaing shafts of light stream down. You can get the most incredible pictures with just a point-and-shoot camera and no flash.

Both resorts are nice. The Scottsdale Links has had work done to it since I stayed there last in 2008 and it was nice then.

Are these resorts good to work with exchangers? My wife has had double knee replacement and has a hard time going up steps and noticed that the do not have elevators.

We exchanged to SVM and had no issues getting a 1st floor unit close to the pool. [Non-peak time of June probably didn't hurt.]

Links vs Mirage

I have stayed at both as the both are DRI properties. Yes, they will work with you as far as staying in lower level units to avoid stairs. My dad was not able to walk the stairs and they reserved handicapped rooms for him. Let them know in advance and they will try to accommodate you even if you are an exchanger.

These resorts are very different types of properties as DRI properties tend to be. Scottsdale Links is more condo/apartment style living. The 2 bedroom units are large and have everything in them. I like the Links because it's like living at home.

Scottsdale Village Mirage is more like a resort. The units are a little smaller, but has many more activities than the Links. The Scottsdale Village Mirage has activities for kids, tennis courts and I think basketball too. It also has a game room with either ping pong or a pool table (I can't remember.)

Both places are close to shops and restaurants. You will be in the middle of everything. I love Scottsdale! You will too.
