I put an item for sale in several venues, including Craigslist. A lady was interested, asked for my last price and a pic. I sent pic and said my last price (I'm sure she meant best price) was the same. She wanted my name and address to send the money. I said no, I prefer cash when she picks up the item, or paypal. I asked why she would want to pay by mail?
I won't be hearing from her again.

I can smell the scams out now and just delete them. :ignore:

It happens all the time, unfortunately. People emailing for the "item" and wanting to send a certified check, or their "shipper" will be picking it up.

I guess some people must fall for it, or it wouldn't be worth their time.

I have an RV for sale. You mean this order for 50 used 5th wheel trailers for thousands over my asking price is bogus? Shucks, I thought I'd just hit the lottery!

Yeah, I've learned to ignore those generic reply's 'is your item still for sale'...

I still don't understand the desire to send a certified check. What do they get, your bank account info? Or is this a lead into over paying and asking for the difference?

As you said, someone must fall it, or they wouldn't be so common. They sure are annoying.

That's the classic scam. They send you a bogus cashier's check for an amount OVER your price and ask you to refund them the difference. In a few weeks, when the cashier's check is deemed fraud by your bank, you get a double-whammy with the chargeback from the bank.
