Scam website copies VRBO and Homeaway

It came to my attention this morning that a scam website had virtually copied Homeaway and VRBO listings at various areas around the country and taking peoples money for future vacation rentals.

www.bidvacationrental.com is the website.

They did have my neighborhood, Pointe West in Galveston TX, up and running before taking it down a while earlier. Several of my neighbors saw their homes listed there and contacted VRBO and Homeaway about the fraud. My neighbors also sent cease and desist emails to the fraudulent site.

If you own a home check to see if yours is listed. If you are renting a home, do not rent from them.

It appears that some members of the Yahoo group "vacation rentals" discovered this site yesterday.

I used Homeaway not just last month, but luckily for me I go through their website only. I have a few friends who do AirBnB, I know you didn't mention it, but I'll tell them to keep an eye out.

I clicked on my developement and Port Charlotte and got the "Sorry..." message, but when I tried Orlando the message did not come up. I guess the whole site is not down.
