So i own one of those weird SBP ownerships that has a fixed week i can book 24 months in advance, my week is week 34....

Here's what my plan is for 2013:

Call in at EXACTLY 8:58am(several times, i'm guessing) on June 29th 2012 and try to book the July 4th week for check in June 28th, 29th or 30th, IF that is already full, it will be 14 months before my fixed week, so i should be able to book that

But...I have a Questions:

Does anyone, beyond those other owners of week 34 at SBP have the ability to book beyond 12 months? I should be able to book my week 34 at the 14 month point right?

Ride, booking SBP is very easy even for 4th of July week. Two years in a row I was able to book 4th of July week between 11 and 10 month before check-in.
No need to be worried about your week 34.
As for the rules - only week 34 owners can compete for that week with you from 24-12months. But week 34 should be very easy to book since it is less desirable than mid summer weeks due to getting too close to school start.
In fact week 34 will probably be available all the way up to 8 months before check-in when it will be open for Staroption exchanges.
SBP is one of the lower level resorts in Starwood systems so there is not a huge demand for it.

I'm glad to hear July 4th shouldn't be that hard to get, I'm still on the fence about if i want that week, FOR ME, any week from June 22nd to August 30th is Great, heck the week after July 4th(my birthday week) would be pretty awesome to get too! I'm just afraid i maybe missing out on some 'holiday events' by not atleast trying to get that week

I've got to admit, i'm pretty lucky that the resorts/area's some people consider 'lower level' are the ones i love and easiest for me to travel to, Williamsburg, Massanutten, SBP, Smugglers notch, these places are AMAZING for a single father with a tight budget...While i understand that others maybe be more 'luxurious' just the cost of the flight alone would wipe out my entire 4 week vacation budget

Ride,

It is not that area (Myrtle Beach) is "lower level" - quite the contrary, Marriott Ocean Watch for example is among most desired resorts in Marriott system.
SBP is not oceanfront resort which decrease desirability compared to other resorts in the area (not a problem for me due to proximity to Plantation on the Beach) and Starwood resort network is not as consistent in terms of luxury/quality as Marriott. In general Westins are more luxurios resorts in Starwood network compared to Sheraton branded resorts. Part of the differentiation also comes from targeted audiences - in general most of the people that visit/own resorts like SBP and SVR are different from people that visit/own WKORV/HRA/WSJ. This was also reflected in developer prices for each resort.

Agree -- you should not have any problem getting 4th of July week 12 months out. Even though the location isn't on the beach it's a nice property and very mellow.
