They were talking about how a lot of hotels have been doing some dirty deeds that more and more folks are starting to complain about the many undisclosed fees.

Seem more and more hotels, and now it appears to be popping up in the timeshare world, the charging of fees for EVERYthing

there are parking fees, fees for internet, towels, chairs etc.. its is starting to get dedicolus. With all the online places to find the best price on hotel cost they are keeping the "room" cost low to entice more looks and booking. Many are suspirzed when checking out the $50 dollar a night room cost almost 100 after all the fees.

THe TV station reported was saying there is a good website to find out about fees..

this is for Bonnet Creek in Orlando and the fees are fricken AMAZING.

Resort Fee and Other Mandatory Fees
Guests at this hotel may be required to pay the following mandatory fees:
  • Resort fee: $31.50 per room, per night

The fees are shown somewhere when booking but people are not reading fully what they are booking. They see the great price and ignore all else.

Now booking a week and and adding resort fees after, like some timeshares trade companies are allowing, is a problem. You book with no resort fee or a lower one and one is implemented or increased after you book and you either pay or lose your trade fee. To me there has to been something illegal with that. One day someone will sue.

There a gas station in Orlando - no, not the one by the airport (this one's near I-Drive), where the signboard shows a low gas price, but when you pull up to the pump, in small print, you find that the price only applies to those who buy a car wash. Don't buy a car wash, and it's 20 cents more per gallon.

Not always. I booked a Marriott hotel in Miami using the hotel booking thing in II. I have a big hate for the hidden fees, so checked and made copies of everything. No stated fee anywhere. Upon check out, $50 fee. The front desk guy said I had missed the fee. I showed him all the copies, and asked him to find it. He could not. He got a manager involved, who said the same thing, again with the copies of everything, again with not finding it. They said that I failed to make a copy of something or was not producing a copy that had the fee. It took half an hour of management being butt hurt and arguing with me before they removed the fee. I won't ever go back to that hotel again, and don't really feel the need to visit a Marriott again after that experience.

If they disclose the fee upfront, then I'm accounting for it. I might not be thrilled with it, but i can make an apples to apples compairson with other properties. If they hide the fee, fail to disclose it when booking, etc.... I'm not a happy camper, and (much to others dismay) will let management know my feelings.
