Got a call from Orlando trying to pitch me a package.
The lady said that changes are coming to saving expiring points and that we will no longer have to deposit to RCI to save, but will be able to bank forward.
Anybody have any info on if this is true?

First I've heard of anything like this.

You can never be sure who’s calling from Orlando. Generally it is not Wyndham but rather some scammer who wants you to think its Wyndham. This come on to saving expiring points is likely nothing more than the credit pool which we all know is nothing new. If there was anything new, I’m sure Wyndham would be boasting about it through emails to owners like they are doing with the Ovation Program.

I think this is probably right on target, and the pitch will be if you become gold or platinum you'll be able to put your points into the credit pool 6 or 9 months into the year.

The purported "changes" couldn't be Credit Pool. But, see post #3.

She said it was not the credit pool but banking points in their current year as opposed to before it begins like the credit pool.

With VIP, you don't have to do it before it begins.

I know but I am not nor will I probably ever be VIP and this is not new. She said it was new. I guess we shall see if this is just sales spin or any truth to it.

Flip a coin.

If it's head, it's spin. It it's tails, it spin.

If it lands on its edge and stays there, you've won the lottery, the resort will bring you a brand new Tesla with the "Ludicrous mode" upgrade... and it will STILL be spin.

That just made me chuckle out loud, and there was no one here to hear it.

U don't have to buy a package and not true open your catalog and read it seams u haven't it depends on point level hense having u buy a package not a good reason to buy AT ALL!

I don't mean to be rude, but I have seen several of your posts, and it is very difficult to comprehend what you are trying to say in them.

What I am trying to say is, Wyndham ownership, bought from Wyndham is for legacy buyer. After market is for people who want time share experiences but will never build a position, work over time to Gold or platinum an u built such a position through Wyndham if I read correctly
Your platinum yes? Correct me if I am wrong and decided
To lever your points for a profit. I am also building a position. I have 500,000 legal points and 154,000 aftermarket. It is great u offer such a service and u should profit over the years you have made a huge investment.

Thank you for your very clear explanation.

Certainly, paying the developer for points to fully qualify you for VIP Status is a strategy. Some owners have done well with that strategy, while some others, who have paid to achieve VIP Status, advise that the benefits aren't worth the expense. One certain exception would be if you become a renter and you are good at it.

Most owners don't want to become renters and build a business. We want to own points because we like the flexibility of the points system, and it allows us to mix and match points to use for short stays or even pool across years to bank them for a special accommodation that is beyond the reach of our yearly contract. For us, it makes no sense to buy fro the developer.

Yes and apparently is working well for and I have enjoyed my aftermarket points since 1988. My wife and I now want to build a pool that we can take our children and grandchildren and each have their own units 3 where and when we want.

Can you tell me how you see VIP benefits fitting into your plan?

Well, since you're not VIP it would be new to you... :D

Well that's one way to spin things. :p

Considering the hot thread "Interesting Wyndham email" this "new" change may be related in a convoluted way to the changes to cancelled points.
