My wife and I were watching 4 rabbits play in our yard jumping over each other, going in and out of openings in bushes, and just having a blast. At the same time some squirrels were having a ball stripping the walnut tree (walnuts still green) which we've never got one walnut in 20 years of living here. Next thing I knew one of the rabbits (all look young) ran right into the pool. He tried getting out but couldn't so I grabbed the pole with the net on it and tried to get him out. He wouldn't have anything to do with the net and tried going into where the basket is. I opened it from above and chased him back. I was then able to use the net to get him out. He is now sitting in the sun under part of the walnut tree with nuts falling all around him and the squirrels still having a blast while stealing our walnuts.

 well done at getting it out.

I'm amazed at the number of creatures that find their way into our pool. We have had the neighbours bunny fall in too. An elderly labrador dog at 2am in the middle of winter was hard work and we never did find out who he belonged to. The frogs would have to be the hardest to rescue - keep jumping off the scoop. I'm going to put a frog ladder in so that they can get out themselves :) . And as for the snakes , most of them were dead when we scooped them out. We sent them with young son to school "show and tell". There was one live one swimming happily in the skimmer box when DH put his hand in :( .

Nice job  ! We used to have loads of bunnies in our backyard, then some cats moved in for awhile and all the bunnies disappeared. Never a bunny in our pool, though.

We rescued baby ducklings from our pool once. They couldn't fly out and we tried to rig a ramp, and finally, we fished them out.

Good for you! I know what you mean about the tree stripping. We had four pecan trees in our yard when we lived in VA. They bore nuts for the last six years we were there and I got TWO pecans to show for it The squirrels would take one off, bite into it, find out it was green, throw it down, and start on another one. By the time the nuts were actually supposed to be ripe, there were none left.
