We live in California, but every year my husband likes to spend a week or two at the Saratoga Springs racetrack. Our kids are old enough that we can bring them along. Anyone own a timeshare within a one hours drive? Did you buy because you also love going to the races?

Hi haras,

Do you have RCI or Interval? I think Lake George would be the best for a family. But it’s difficult to get summer weeks.

If you look at a map, Massachusetts is right next door to upstate NY. In western Mass. (the Berkshires) there are a number of timeshares that attract summer and skiing customers. Oak & Spruce is in Lenox, MA. Vacation Villages and Wyndham Bentley Brook are in Hancock, MA. Not a long ride to the Capital District and Saratoga. There may be others, but that would be a good start. Lake George has no LARGE timeshares so availability could be a concern.

I got excited thinking this thread was about Disney SSR. Then I realized I was wrong.

We own several timeshares and can trade into either rci or interval. I just need a strategy on the best method of attack. I didn’t know the Berkshire’s was nearby. Will start researching that area. Any other insight would be appreciated!!

There's Kaaterskill Mountain Club (RCI I believe) but it is like one hour and 45 minutes from Saratoga.

Yes...Kaaterskill Mountain Club is RCI. We stayed there last summer...very nice. We drove into Albany one day. It's not a drive I would make every single day, but would be fine to do a couple of times during your stay. KMC is quartershares, so it's somewhat tough to exchange into. The owners make more money by renting their units through the hotel rental pool. It was a nice enough place, and an area we'd like to explore again in a few years.
