We are flying into the SRQ airport in a couple of weeks and traveling to Siesta Key. Are there any cashless toll from the airport to Siesta Key?? Would it be wise to purchase a transponder?
I live near here and I don’t believe I have seen a toll bridge or booth anywhere on Siesta Key or on the airport route to Siesta Key. Unless you are going into Tampa, or across the Skyway Bridge to Tampa or St.Pete, or over to Orlando you should not need a transponder. If your rental car comes with one make sure it is turned off. I once had a problem with Dollar Car Rental and a transponder. Took a long time to get resolved.
I too live in the Sarasota area. There are no cashless tolls from the airport to Siesta Key. As the previous poster said the only cashless tolls are if you are driving to other areas such as Tampa, St. Pete, Orlando and the east coast.

Its a good idea to carry a portable transponder with you just in case. I purchased an E-Pass transponder that I use in the rental cars. It was $19.99 then I get charged the tolls. Rental car companies charge a weekly or daily rate for their transponders. Just load in the rental car info in the app for each trip. Can also be shared with other family members. Has worked out great.
As JudyH said... Unless you are driving over the Skyway Bridge which connects SW Florida to St. Petersburg, or the Orlando area, there are no tolls. IOW, for what the OP is doing -- don't worry about it.
.
I bought a North Carolina EZ Pass Transponder that I travel with. It good in all the EZ Pass states, plus NC, GA, and FL. Makes it very convenient so I can avoid the car rental company toll Scams!
Though don't ever rent from NextCar!!! They have Sun-pass stickers on every car to make it impossible for you to use your own, and they charge you $250 if you remove the sticker!
