Both 2 bedrooms.

Both low TPU (5 - 7)

Its me, DH, Dbaby (3 then) and DS (19)

Need to pick ASAP, have both on hold.

I stayed at the Sapphire in 2010 and on a scale of 1 -10, I would give it a 6.

thanks ... it says online that the kitchens are granite and bathrooms marble. that sounds nice ... wondering if it was a recent rehab?

hows the location?

Near the sea.
Some of the Sapphire has been updated, some has not. I don't know how to tell which ones have. It has a pool and no beach. You would have to drive about 5 minutes to the beach at Mullet Bay. The waves may be a little rough for a toddler. Parking can be a hassle at the Sapphire. Sapphire is located in an area called Cupocoy (sp?). There are some high end restaurants and a casino there. Cupocoy beach is usually a clothing optional beach.

The Atrium is located closer to the airport. It used to be really nice inside, marble granite etc, I heard it had some issues, may have been taken over by a different management company. It has a calmer beach, with numerous boats moored in the area that you can walk to easily. There are many less high end but still nice restaurants in the area. Some would say it is a more central location.

Hope this helps.

Sapphire has no beach. You can walk to Cupecoy beach, which is clothing optional, and the water can be rough, depending on the time of year. There was a lot of construction just past the resort the last time we were in SXM. I don't know if it is finished by now.

Atrium is more centrally located, with a beach. The beach isn't that great, but you are within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. I have stayed at the Sapphire (long time ago) and will be staying at the Atrium this August. My pick would be the Atrium.

Hey there,

Congratulations!!

We also took advantage of the low TPU to get reservations in SXM (however, we chose to stay at Ocean Club villas), we wanted to be near the Porto Cupecoy and Temptations Restaurant areas. Former owners at Pelican, and wanted to branch out (lol) from the Simpson Bay area nite life/crowds.

Because you have stayed at Pelican (Simpson Bay Club, whatever), you know the area surrounding Atrium.

You can also go to the Pelican "kiddie" playground if you want to. And if you go early enough, you should be able to "reserve" spaces at their "beach" or Marina Residences. The "kim sha" beach next to the Atrium usually has younger kids/parents lounging there. We enjoyed LaBamba there also.
