There is an article in todays News Press about Sanibel Island. I could not copy the link, but maybe someone can.
they say a temporary bridge will be in place by the end of October.
earlier I saw a video of a rescue boat that went out on a call to bring stranded people back to the mainland. Even though they had no electricity or water, many people are staying in their homes. they stay on the second floor and cook what they have left on a camp stove.
all the roads have been cleared and lift stations are working,
twelve hour passes were issued to residents to inspect their property and no one was injured in the process.
they plan to take a picture of every structure on the island. Also rate ever property from damaged to destroyed.

Fort myers beach residents are angry with officials. They still have not been allowed on the island to see their homes. The plan is to have them park at the bridge and take a shuttle bus to their home. If they can salvage anything they will have to carry it on the bus. If they want to tear out wet drywall or carpeting, this is their opportunity, but they have to carry in their tools And supplies.

I can’t imagine how bad the mold is at this point…..ugh….and the thick mud covering everything. Someone I know was on Sanibel taking photos and drone images. He said it is so bad :(
