We booked a week at the CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort before Jan. 15 for 150,000 points. Just checked to see what the points would be with the new system for the same week. Same amount of points. Interesting. . .

Yes, but for 5 days ... or is it only a 5-day cert with the travel package for the same prices. :doh:

As mentioned above, Marriott didn't increase the number of points required. Instead, they decreased the number of days from 7 down to 5. Consider you vacation certificated as being hit by the shrink ray.

Its a Cat 5. The old rate would have been 120K per week.
150K was the amounts of points required for Cat 7 hotels.

I booked one night in Paris Marriott Hotel Champs-Elysees hotel (was cat 7 now it is 8) for 35k points... I checked after 15Jan it now needs 40K but it still charges the same amount of money!!
