I see a lot of posts complaining about "upfront selling costs thieves" and other unsuccessful experiences in trying to sell a TS. To be fair to those using those services, there are probably alot of folks interested in TS and jump at the first opportunity to buy at their first presentation. Then after paying it off and realizing they are now stuck with annual MF, they just want out. And just like they got in, they jump to the first "advertiser" quoting a zillion hits per month on their websites and fork over the upfront fee.

But what I want to do is start a thread about successes experienced. Have you been able to sell your TS? If so, how did it happen. Since this is a "user's group" let's share what works and help each other.

Tell all of us about your success. Did you get an estimated value from MyTS, or whoever, and how much did that cost? Did you list your sale on Redweek or somewhere else? How much did that cost? How long before you recieve your first offer and was it close to what you were asking? How was a final price negotiated? Were you satisfied and would you recommend what you did to the rest of us?

These are just general ideas that I have which may contribute to the success of this forum and eventually all of us.

BTW - I also have been approached by the evil "upfronters" and actually gained some interesting contradictatory information, which amused me. But I don't want to complain and be negative. I want to hear some really good experiences that can help us all.

If you have a good story, please share it. Let's make this a true and useful "User's Group".

What did they say to you that you found "interesting contradictatory information" ?

Bill, I don't think you're playing along with the OP's intentions for this thread:D

There's tons of information spread out all over the "stickys" and the various forums. TUGgers have been posting this type of info for over 13 years. Don't you think it's a bit presumptious of you to arrive at a timeshare website with 30,000 + members and think that no one has been discussing this topic? If you really want to get answers, read, read, read.

But welcome, anyhow

But what I want to do is start a thread about successes experienced.

I don't think that you are going to get the upbeat and positive sales stories that you are hoping for, because this is a terrible time to sell a timeshare, and stories from better economic times don't really apply to current conditions. The market is flooded with resales - there are pages and pages of TS's listed on ebay for $1 - some of them great resorts. You would be better off renting or using your timeshare until the economy improves. Otherwise, expect to take a loss of 50% - 100%.

For lots of info. on how to sell your timeshare, read the stickies at the top of the board and scroll back through the old posts. There is already tons of info. here.

Good luck!
