We're heading to Sabal Palms for 10 days in July/August using DC points. Do any TUGgers know if I can charge back to my Sabal Palms account any purchases at the World Center Marriott? Of course, I'd like to maximize my Marriott Reward points, so I'd prefer to charge any restaurant or incidental expenses back to my room.

Also, since our stay will bridge the "magical" Starriott August 1 date, does anyone have suggestions as to how to maximize the after August 1st charges given that our check-in will be in July?

Thanks.

I was there 5 years ago and the answer was yes then.
I would guess it still is as that is the case at several other Marriott ts ajoining hotels where I have stayed.

But it was my understanding that all Marriott purchases counted extra on the rewards.Or do you not have a Marriott credit card?

Give sabal a call to be sure.
Enjoy your trip!

Ps- is there an advantage to charging back to the sabal room vs. just charging at the world center Marriott. I’m assuming a Marriott credit card- I thought you got bonus points for all Marriott purchases?

I have stayed in many, many Marriott timeshares that are connected to hotels. I have never had an occasion that my hotel charges were not attributed to my account on file. You’ll have no problems there. As far as the August 1st cutover date, a few months ago I would have told you to use a Starwood Amex to get 6x the points during your stay. However, with the new Marriott Rewards Card you'll get the same rewards as the SPG Amex offering— 6x the points.

Thanks to all for your replies and suggestions.

Yes, I plan to use my SPG Amex rather than my not-yet-upgraded MR Visa. I am hoping that our August 10 checkout will result in the new 10 + Plat bonus + credit card bonus at the new program rate (approx. 21 points per dollar spent).

Another question about Sabol Palms. Is there a fee to use the slides at the World Marriott Center pool? Four years ago, we stayed at Imperial Palms and there was a fee to use them.

There is a fee but it is a fixed amount for everyone in the villa to use the slides all week. It is dirt cheap compared to someone staying at the world center who has to pay the daily resort fee whether they use the slides or not.

Interesting, I was just at Sabal Palms and didn't remember a fee to use the slides. Maybe there was a resort fee, but it must have been nominal. And yes, I charged a ton of stuff at the Marriott World Center back to my Sabal Palms room. Enjoy your trip!

Best,

Greg

Thanks to GregT and SaintsFanFL for your replies. My kids are full-fledged teenagers now and I'm sure they will love the slides much more than they did four years ago. I assume there is still a nightly laser light show as well.
