Hi.. I know the Royal Resorts trade with II and RCI. BUT did you have a choice as to what exchange company you want to deposit with? The listing I am seeing via a resale website says RCI. I would prefer to deposit it with II if that was an option. Hope that makes sense.
When we first purchased our Royal Caribbean, Royal Islander, Royal Sands and Royal Haciendas properties The Royal Resorts were affiliated with Interval International. RR dropped it and went with RCI in about 2012 when they went with a point system. Owners were then told we could stay with II if we wanted to but RR would not be putting any bulk deposits into II. We chose to stay with II as RCI devalued the Royal Sands. We still use II and we are very happy with it.
I am assuming the owner who you are purchasing the unit from chose to go with RCI or purchased their week after the RR changed to RCI. When the RR went with a point system they had a program called the Signature Club, we did not buy into that. We have owned timeshares since 1981. We have gone from owning 10 weeks to 7 and we only own where we want to go. In addition to our RR weeks we also own 3 weeks at the Marriott Aruba Ocean Club and 1 week at Marriott's Surfwatch on Hilton Head Island. In 2010 Marriott stopped selling weeks and introduced a point system. We were able to enroll our 4 weeks into their system for $695. So we did. When the RR came up with their point system in 2012 or 2013 they wanted $2400 to enroll. We said hell no, if Marriott only wanted $695 then why would we pay you $2400. So we didn't do it and we have been fine.
Where is the unit that you are interested in buying? We would love to sell our Royal Hacienda week as we don't go there. We moved to Florida 8.5 years ago and we just don't have the time nor the desire to travel as often as we did. If you are interested in it email me at
