We own Royal Islander Cancun 1 week. We occupied last Oct and exchanged for another wk. Out unit is great location and we were given virtually same location for the exch wk 3 doors down.

We are going back in April with 2 exchange weeks (one Royal Isl and one Marriott). How far ahead do I need to call to ask for good unit location?

Interval International has already matched you with your units; check your history on intervalworld.com. The units you were assigned depended on what was deposited by other owners. The resort has very little flexibility in assigning you to a different unit as it depends on how many exchanges were sent over to them by II for that week.

Getting back to backs in the same unit is nearly impossible, since probably two different owners would have had to each deposit them. However, it wouldn't hurt to call down to the front desk and ask them to check with the Inventory Department, just to see if they happen to have two back to back II deposits that are close-by. I'd call the week before, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday....I suggest this because a few years ago I asked for a TUG friend's exchange to be close to my owned unit, and happened to be there the week ahead. I asked on Sunday or Monday, and they said to wait till mid-week because that's when the Inventory Dept puts together the assignments to send over to the front desks.
