Hi, looking for a good place to buy some cheap beach chairs at HHI . Should I try a supermarket or what ?? Suggestions welcome. Also, any preferred units at Royal Dunes?? Any beach views or golf ?? Have not stayed here so I am not familiar... first floor vs top floor ??? thanks for any thoughts. :)

If you're driving onto the island, there is a Super Walmart just before you go on (preferred) or if you miss that one, there is a smaller one on the right before you get to the turn for the resort. There is also a Sam's Club near the turn. They probably have chairs. We got most of our groceries there.

You're not close enough to the beach for water views, but our unit overlooked a quiet section of woods.

At Royal Dunes there are no ocean front views; from some units you can see a very limited view of the golf course.

You can walk to the beach in about 10 minutes.
You can purchase beach stairs at the Shelter Cove Mall, Wal-Mart on the Island or at Target off the Island.

You can also sometime ride the bus shuttle to the Westin Hotel to the beach.
Plus the Westin has a great seafood buffet on friday nights.

We stayed at Royal Dunes sevaral months ago. Our unit was very nice. Read my review. Don't miss the Thursday luncheon. Pizza from Brick Oven was great. Check out www.restaurant.com for the Upper Crust(Bluffton). Use code 91971 for 60% off through 2/22/06. Enjoy!

Hi, I read all the reviews...I think I have been by this property in the past.. if its the one I am thinking of... picking up people for a day trip to Charleston...I called the resort and was told all SUnday arrivals are placed in bldg. 1 or 2 which are both now renovated. JUst info for others if going. THanks for the info. I look forward to the pizza...and relaxation of HHI. How is the beach ? Only familiar with the one in SHipyard and Seapines. :p

Nerodog - how was your stay at Royal Dunes?

I'm just about to confirm a unit for October 21 at this resort. Was it as nice as all the reviews indicate? Anything you can report on the place? Thanks!

We actually DID take a beach chair on the plane flying interisland in Hawaii last year. Thought it was worth a shot. We had to sign all sorts of waivers saying they wouldn't be responsible for damage, but it made it just fine.

The beach is a public beach shared by the Marriott's Baroney, The Westin Hotal and other t/s & hotels.

We bought nice beach chairs in Hawaii and also took them home on the plane. We bound them together with a boogie board in between with some packaging tape. There were no problems at all. The super Walmart on HH has a souvenir shop too. The beach in front of Barony is an easy walk. Royal Dunes is next to their garden units. There's also park chairs and umbrella you can rent but if I recall they were pricey. Years ago I think they were $25 a day. Barony has an outside cabana bar you can buy drinks from if you wish.
