Headed to Marriott d'ile-de-france in 3 weeks and got the room preference email today. Have never visited this property. Anyone have suggestions for what I should request?

There are several threads with info about locations. We like the giverny gardens section, near main bldg, pool, and close to front if you don’t have a car. And lovely garden area for your patio.

I agree with Elaine. We were always in and out of the lobby, restaurant or market. Giverney is cute and convenient.

We were also in Giverney this past June. It was maybe a three minute walk to freshly baked chocolate croissants in the marketplace (at 8am.) It was also very convenient to the gate exit as we used Navigo passes so we took the Paris bus and not the Marriott bus. That being said, if you aren't doing Navigo the Marriott bus is a bit cheaper although there was a good break mid-day so keep that in mind.

Here is the property map for reference. I think requesting a couple of specific building block numbers may be more useful that just a section, as most sections have some buildings near the Marketplace and pool complex. Agree with @Pink_Warrior that Giverney is nice if you're planning on taking the Paris bus to the parks and/or RER station as you have to walk out just past the Security Gate to pick up the public bus.

I’m sitting in Le Lac section 4600 block right now. I requested Giverny but because we exchanged into 3 bedroom that wasn’t an option. This location is still very close to the Marketplace which we have gone to most mornings for the bakery. Most surprising thing is the cost. Reasonable for a MVC market at less than 2€ per croissant.

We used the shuttle (which is full size buss) to DLP for 3.90€ round trip. Runs every 40 minutes with a break from noon to 5pm. You need a reservation for departure time but not return. Last bus is 10:40 pm and it was packed with people staying to park close at 10:00.

We used Uber to go when the shuttle wasn’t available. Cost was about 15€, while the local bus costs 5.50€ each (a special higher cost during the 2024 Olympics), but Uber picks you up at the lobby area. The convenience was worth the delta to us. You can still get a return shuttle ticket for the one way trip back to Marriott Village. An Uber to Val d’Europe marketplace is about 15€ as well.

I’m certain you will enjoy the resort. We certainly are!

We will have a rental car but plan to use the train to go to Paris 2-3 days. Is there free parking at the nearby train stations? Or would I be better off just leaving the car at the resort and taking the local bus to the train?

There is paid parking at the station. It looked like there was a parking garage above the station. The front desk would know for sure. They have been really helpful. You could take the shuttle for sure. The first one is at 8:50, then every 40 minutes thereafter. If you miss the last bus you could always take a taxi. Lots of them waiting outside. Many restaurants seem to stay open until midnight. The French like to eat late it seems.

Why is there a Mickey mouse pool at a Marriott?
I've seen that design at a couple of other timeshare pools. I recall one was Westgate Vacation Villas and Sheraton PGA Vacation Resort.

In case anyone is looking at this for any date after tomorrow (8 September), the local bus is normally only €2/each (and you can lower that to €1.75 if you buy a book of 10 T+ tickets ahead of time). The increased cost was solely to provide additional services during the Olympics and Para-Olympics, which ends on 8 September 2024.

Good to know. The cost seemed pretty expensive at 5:50€. Even the info sheet provided by Marriott has that price. I assume they will correct it for future check in. Although it sure makes their shuttle seem like a good deal.

Looking at the transportation info we got I see it says the shuttle schedule is for 8/19 - 9/8. So I if you are coming I would suggest you email the resort and ask them to send current info during your stay. They were very good about responding to emails when I was asking for info.

The resort has lots of folks going to Disneyland Paris which is 15 minutes away. I just assumed that was the reason for the Mickey shape. We went yesterday and it was really cold.

It could also be related to the idea that the site was originally planned as a DVC resort though this was never publicly announced unlike the Newport Coast location which was publicly announced to be a DVC resort but later sold and developed by MVC.

All the rooms seem to have a pleasant view. The walk to the market is never a long walk so I wouldn't request a room based on how close it is to the market. The only thing would be if your walking to public bus/town.
