Does anyone know when they do the room assignments? Does it help to call and talk to someone?

We are going for my husbands 50th and we have an ocean front studio in the older section along with a two bedroom. My preference is to have both rooms close, but my first preference is one of the rooms with the biggest lanai. We are traveling with a group, so enjoying cocktails on the lanai would be amazing.

Which floors have the best lanais?

I believe the best lanai's on are on the lower floors -- as in Floor 2 and 3 (I think) in the original building. They are more than just a normal balcony, perhaps 2-3X the size -- however you will have an obstructed view from the palm trees. A nice problem to have.....

I would call about 3-4 weeks before arrival (808/667-1200) and ask for room assignments and explain your request.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Best,

Greg

Thanks Greg, I will call tomorrow because we were 4 weeks from yesterday.

I know it is different also depending on which building they put us in.

Greg, you are correct about the floors, but not all of these lower floor ocean front rooms have obstructed views. We were in one of them once (in Lanai Tower) and it had a perfect view.

MOC in the Molokai tower on the 3rd floor

We stayed here once in unit 3012 and the balcony was very big. I believe that the second floor even has a larger lanai.

Also, there are less palm trees in front of the Molokai tower so that is the tower you would want to choose. I also believe that it was a lock-off unit from a 2 BR timeshare condo so you may end up with one of these.

Ask for a higher floor but the owners will always get the highest floors but we were very happy with our view with a DC Exchange and the second floor should be very good too for what you want like a very big lanai to entertain. :D

View on the Island of Lanai. This is a big lanai and so is the studio.

So I called today, I think my chances are slim to get my room with the bigger lanai, but there is always the chance. Fingers crossed.

I was told they do room assignments 1 week prior to checkin.

Thanks for all the tips.

If you made your reservation 13 months out, you should have a good chance...
