Rolling resale points into retail contract

We bought an odd year retail UID contract for 154,000 points. We got a bunch of bonus points that ended up puttin gus into VIP Gold for some three years or something. I didn't really care at the time, and I fell for the pitch (Shame on me.)

Anyways, we own now, and we are not unhappy about it to be honest, however we are really liking the VIP Gold bennies and want to keep them. Do you know if purchasing someone's resale contract points can be rolled into our existing retail contract to "turn it into" a yearly VIP Gold forever status? The salespeople told us that we could do an equity trade in the future if we decided to upgrade to a yearly Gold contract, but the price was just ridiculous.

Is it possible to roll resale points into a retail contract? Thanks very much.

It will cost you far more than if you just buy enough resale points to do what you want within the FSP system minus any of the perks VIP offers. They simply aren't worth the high cost. Put the money toward your fes for 8-10 years - the difference in cost is THAT large.

Yes you can. I did it a few years ago, and I personally know others that did too (this year).

- purchase a resale Wyndam (FSP/UDI a contract that was originally points) NOT A CONVERTED WEEK.
- then go on a tour and ask what's the least amount of points it would take to be VIP gold yearly (its like 105,000K)
- ask for an equity trade, to roll all of you points into one deed

And Viola! its done.

For the umpteenth time, your experience is not necessarily the only way to do things. For example, others have reported the ability to roll up a converted week.

It all depends on what sort of deal the sales staff is willing to write.

All that said, I would not bother. It's much cheaper to just buy more points, especially considering VIP beneifts can be (and are) watered down all the time.

I am not saying that this is the only way, but it is a way. I have not had the experience of someone rolling up a converted week. Can it be done? I don't know...What have been done for me..and others close to me ... I do know and that's what I am stating here. If a person wants to purchase something its their money. If they ask a question, I answer it as best as I can from my own experiences and my research (as do you). Just like I don't know the laws of Wyndam...you don't know them all either. I have a right to state my point of view and will not stop just because I am not saying the same thing that you are saying. Have a nice day...:)

As for VIP benefits... sure they are expensive but if someone wants its their choice to spend their money to get it...and how they chose to do so is up to them.

I think it is possible to roll resale points into a new retail contract, but as others have said, it depends on where you are and who's your salesperson.

For all the die hard "resale-only" tuggers out there, bnoble is correct. It will be a lot cheaper to buy more points resale and forget about whatever VIP benefits you are currently enjoying.

However, I agree with lprstn in that obtaining a VIP level is a personal choice. Your vacation is your retreat and should be set up in a way that makes you happy.

That being said, if you want VIP Gold my advice would be to buy a small resale points contract along with one (or two) 3bd red week resale(s) on ebay. If the points were not able to roll into an upgraded contract you could PIC in a 3bd week for 254k points. The resale points wouldn't count as a loss because you would still use them.

The positive thing about the PIC week is that the avg MF for a 3bd red week is @ $800 (some are more and some are less) while the MF on 254k Wyndham points ranges from $1016 to $1270 ($4 - $5 per k). Currently you can PIC 2 weeks, but who knows how long that will last.
