The Radiators are a long-time New Orleans band that never got much recognition.
Yeah - Mayall definitely fits the group.I think John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers are in this category.
My choice for most underappreciated rock band would be "The Band".

Not to mention being ranked #50 in the Rolling Stone magazine's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time", higher than Eric Clapton, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Temptations, Eagles, Creedence Clearwater, Diana Ross and the Supremes. Doesn't seem underappreciated to me,I'd think having a documentary produced by Martin Scorsese of a concert promoted by Bill Graham would disqualify them as being underappreciated.
I'm really enjoying the threads discussing great music theme songs and best decades. There is a lot of great music out there from various genres that have enhanced all of our lives. I'd like to start a thread about more obscure bands that never got the publicity that their talent deserved. These are two of my favorites.
Todd Rundgren was the guitar player for Nazz. They recorded the original 'Hello It's Me" which was a slower version with great harmonies. Todd wasn't the lead singer for most of their songs. One of my favorites is Under the Ice from their second album (actually red vinyl). This has some of the best drumming that I've ever heard.
One of my favorite bands that never made it 'big' was City Boy. They had several good albums that featured the guitar playing of Mike Slamer. They were actually produced by Mutt Lang, who later became more famous by producing Def Leapard's Pyromania and several other successful albums. This song is from 'Day the Earth Caught Fire' album. That album would have been a great soundtrack.
not unlike one of the most unusual baseball trades of all time, when Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson of the NY Yankees swapped wives (and famililies). And Mutt Lang became even more famous when he married Shania Twain. And ultimately became even more famous for having an affair with Twain’s assistant/best friend. Subsequently, Twain married the ex-husband of her ex-assistant/best friend. Just a little side info.
And pets too if I recall....not unlike one of the most unusual baseball trades of all time, when Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson of the NY Yankees swapped wives (and famililies).
I agree. They were another of my favorites and produced at least a few good albums. Very tight.Mentioned earlier, a lot of Canadian bands don't get a lot of love. But, living on the border we tend to hear about more of them. One that I liked in the 70s called Saga, which I think was out of Toronto.

Another innovative and talented band that should be in RHOF.The "blue eyed soul men" - The Rascals
When I was growing up in the Chicago area, I got to see bands before they made it big:
- REO Speedwagon
