Rewards Plus? It is there any advantage to convert Marriott Reward Points to United Milage Plus Award Miles. As compared with the 7day Marriott Hotel package with air. I noticed there is currently a mention( in the Marriott email )of a 20% discount to covert Marriott Reward Points to United miles.

Not sure what 20% discount you are referring to. I know that Marriott provides an additional 10% in miles when you convert points to miles on United. This goes for the travel packages also. So when you use points for a travel package that usually gets 120,000 miles, you actually get 132,000 miles on United.

I would be interested to know if there is some other discount provided for United as we are getting ready to pull the trigger on a 7 night package. If the discount only applies to straight points to miles conversion and not travel packaged, I won't be interested as the 1:3 ratio on those would wipe out any savings you get with the travel package.

I believe the "20% discount", per the MR website, refers to using MR points solely for UA miles; not for a travel package.

A travel package would be better than simply exchanging for UA miles.

You can exchange 224,000 MR points for 100,000 UA FF miles.

Or for 235,000 MR points (if you are a Marriott timeshare owner), you can get 132,000 UA FF miles AND a 5-night stay at a Marriott property (categories 1-5). That's 32,000 more UA FF miles and a 5-night stay for only 11,000 more MR points!

Or for 270,000 MR points (no timeshare ownership required), you can get those same 132,000 UA FF miles and a 7-night stay at a Marriott property (categories 1-5). Since a category 5 hotel reward for 5 nights costs either 80,000 (PointSavers) or 100,000 MR points, the travel package is still a great deal compared with just exchanging MR points for UA FF miles.

Flyer Mileage Bonus

In April I redeemed a 5-night package with 132,000 United miles. After returning I checked my United account and saw an additional 10,000 mile credit listed as "RewardsPlus Travel Package 10k Bonus". I haven't taken the time to see if this is still available but it would be worth checking on.

Edit: I just looked it up and it ended June 30th. Lucky me, I had no idea it was even available.
