The stores in my area(Madison, WI) have banned reusable shopping bags to help stop the spread of the virus. Has this been implemented anywhere else?

Wow! Some of the stores here in Alabama had asked people to bring their own bags. Will have to check into this some more. My wife always takes her own and gets mad at me when I don’t.

Man, I thought reusable shopping bags were supposed to save the world from the scourge of plastic! Who knew?

Stores will be using new paper or plastic bags that the store already has.

In the new game of Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock you can add New bag(plastic/paper) beats old bag (sharing germs). The rules: "Scissors decapitate Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and as it always has, rock crushes scissors." (Big Bang Theory reference in case you aren't familiar)

I usually take the reusable bags when going for a large amount of goods, but for a small order I take plastic at the store because I use them as waste can liners.

We still use bags here in Calif. I now wash after every time we use them in case they have become contaminated.

And to pick up the yard....waste of a different origin...

We went to reusable bags a couple of years ago. I found that I could put 30 clean bags out for the checker/bagger and they will cram all my groceries into 3 bags (and rip my bags). Now I just have them put all my groceries back in the cart and bag my own (in the store or at my car).

It would be helpful if the jurisdiction was in the thread title, since the ban is quite limited.

I've been using my resuable bags through last week. Since then, I've only used grocery pickup so they bag everything in their bags anyway.

I went to the grocery store this afternoon. Announcements were made over the P.A. that if you brought reusable bags you had to use self checkouts because baggers were not allowed to touch reusable bags.

I never use them. I still hoard all my nice plastic shopping bags and I reuse them as garbage bags.

I am perhaps reaching a bit here, but I could see concern with spills in reusable bags (thinking about poultry juices, broken eggs, etc)....

Yep, that's why you need to wash them.
