This is literally right on the edge of the Lahaina fire zone, where the big Safeway is located, so Safeway must be reopening. I read that the back side of the mall was scorched, but there was no major damage:

I did see a post on Facebook that Safeway was reopening today from 7am-7pm for groceries, but no deli, meats, or seafood yet.

What the map in your link doesn’t specifically show is that, within the overall burn area, there were a few areas that were spared major damage. There are other maps that show burned vs spared down to the building level, and both the Lahaina Cannery Mall and the Lahaina Gateway complex across route 30 from the mall were spared significant damage.

Those shopping centers are much newer than the historical wooden Front Street buildings, and appear to be cement or stucco. The shopping centers are also surrounded by large parking lots, so there was far less fuel there for a fire.

The Old Lahaina Luau behind the Cannery Mall looks to have also been spared. They're taking reservations again, starting mid-December.

I received a message from Maui Schooner . They opened back up on September 15th.

They sent a list of businesses that are open as of September 19th. This may have been posted elsewhere but I thought I would share.
