I hope everyone who paid $90.00 fpr entry to the Magic Kingdom today gets a refund or a pass for another day. To have paid that entry fee and be restricted from areas of the park [deleted] is beyond reason.

The only area they were not allowed in is Main Street (shops and restaurants). The entire rest of the park was open---and Main Street is probably open to all by now as well. Disney also added extra hours to all three other parks, added another fireworks show at the Studios, gave everyone the ability to park-hop today even if they hadn't bought hopping tickets, and added extra entertainment in other areas of the Magic Kingdom.

Nephew and I just loved the Magic Kingdom today. We walked up as the gates opened. Enjoyed all the characters who signed books and poised for pictures. Did the Tomoorow Land Speedway as one of the first 5 cars on the track. Did Haunted Mansion 2X with 3 other people and walk over the chain to re-entered. Did Hall of President's with a 3 minute wait for show to start - there was 5 of us total --- 2 guys in full suits and lapel pins (;) ) who were down from DC (Yes, I asked.) Did splash mountain - again no line. Then Pirates of the Carribean.

WDW opened Hall of President's theater as a simocast locale to anyone in the park. Saw the speech. Walk thru and out and waited 10 minutes on the Disney Bus back to the resort for the President's convoy to clear I-4.

The weather was perfect and the park attendees in a good mood. It was a delightful day and just finished lunch at the AKV condo. Off to Downtwon Disney and Hollywood Studio later .... I understand there is a big fireworks show. :D

Had you not heard the President was going to be there? I would have expected the area to be highly restricted and just would have skipped the park if I'd been down there. Or maybe you weren't there at all and just want to complain?

The option to park hop without cost sounds like a pretty nice benefit. I'm surprised Disney did that. Sounds like they tried to be customer friendly.

Isn't Disney World one of the top tourist destinations in the world? Can't think of a better backdrop for a speech about tourism. And honestly? How often does a POTUS' actual presence interrupt the comings and goings of all us regular joes? I'd love to one day be a little inconvenienced when one shows up on short notice - what better way to be able to show respect for the office no matter who holds it at the time?

Vacationhopeful, sounds like you had a great day - and now your nephew can say, "I was at the Hall of Presidents with my very own superduper security detail." Very nice. (I have a cousin who served as Secret Service for the First Family during several Presidents' terms. I think it's very cool, and still talk about him being in People magazine while escorting Amy Carter to school. :) )

I'm guessing that the OP had an agenda here. She wasn't necessarily going to WDW at all, she lives in Clermont, and could almost walk there any time she wants to. Also, the title of the thread and the use of ALL CAPS in part of it is suspect to me, too.

It sounds to me that Disney did a wonderful job of making things better, not worse, for its visitors. And where else would you expect the President to announce a new tourism policy? He's coming to Las Vegas in the next few days to talk about it too.

Plus, ALL of the Central Florida TV and radio stations were talking about the President of the United States' visit.

His reasoning is/was simple: the anti-terrorism regulations having to do with visas for visitors takes too long. International businesses who want to have conventions in the USA can't bring their workers into the country due to the regs. And, simply put, anyone who wants to visit the USA has to go through a long process. President B. H. Obama wants to streamline it, so those who are "safe" can get their visas/passports quickly. Our city (Orlando) depends a lot on tourists, as well as other "hotspots" like New York City and Las Vegas. In other words, we WANT them to visit, and spend money (which is a good thing)!

She didn't say that she was there or inconvenienced herself.
I doubt she ever paid close to $90 for admission. Florida residents qualify for discounts.
One that's available now is the "Wild for 3 Pass" —a 3-day ticket for just $99 (plus tax).

Folks - I edited the first post, and now we need to focus on DL & travel & timesharing, and not discuss the Prez.

THANKS! :hi:

Jim: Apparently you didn't listen to Denise.
The side of the street that _you_ walk on makes no difference.
