Hello,
We recently returned from another beautiful week at Ocean Pointe.

We had 3 wonderful dinners at Sailfish Marina. The "Sailfish Sampler" was excellent: 1/2 lobster tail, shrimp, scallops, dolphin and a crab cake. Pan seared grouper was also very good. All 3 nights we managed to get a table by the window overlooking the intracoastal. Beautiful! The only thing that was weird was that on one of the nights they ran out of "glass" wine glasses & served the wine in a plastic glass. Fortunately, I had kept my "glass" glass from earlier in the evening...I still had it when I ordered a 2nd glass of wine.

Carmines was also excellent: Mussels & clam appetizers in garlic wine sauce...so good! Lobster Ravioli and Sea Bass (which was not on the menu but I asked if they could pan sear it & they did.) The green salad was wonderful with a lemon vinaigrette.

We also went to 3800 Ocean (formerly Solu) at Marriott Singer Island Resort and Spa. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. The pan seared grouper was very oily, overcooked and unappetizing. The seafood pasta was flavorless....shrimp overcooked & "rubbery" and oily herbed sauce. Service was abrupt.

We did not make it to Bonefish Grill but people we met at the pool told us that they had a wonderful dinner there.

How about you? Any restaurants you would recommend near Ocean Pointe?

The last time we were there we enjoyed lunch twice at Two Drunken Goats in the Ocean Mall. We also enjoy driving down to Jupiter to go to Jetys.

Earn FF miles too!

3 weeks ago we enjoyed Entre Nous and Park Avenue BBQ both on Hwy 1 and they give FF miles for your airline account if registered free with iDine Rewards Network...which you can do online before you go. Just go to your airline miles account and look for 'dining partners' and join using a credit card...then search for participating restaurants in any area you stay in and earn some points while eating. Whenever you use that card at an iDine restaurant member you automatically earn miles. I earned about 75000 FF miles last year just by eating and keeping my FF account active.

Not sure - I am on vacation at OP right now, and in a state of bliss,so not *always* listening to The Boss - but last night we ate at Bistro1001. It is in a Marriott property, and we made reservations thru Open Table - PLUS we had a restaurant.com coupon. So - we triple-dipped!!! The place as not much to look at - but the food was REALLY good - The Boss is Italian, and we had VERY good Italian food. ME? It always tastes better if there is a big rebate or discount attached - my Eleventh Commandment is "thou shalt not pay full price".

I will keep you posted on any other great or terrible places we eat - I now we are going back to Pistache one time. Just got out of the jacuzzi, so all of brain isnot working yet .. . .

Mamianka,
Lucky you being at Ocean Pointe!! I wish we were still there. We were there for a week. When did you arrive and how long will you be there? Which building/floor did you get? We were in Pompano.

How was the weather today? When we were there it was very, very windy (felt like Aruba!!), cloudy and rainy 4/6 days but we still loved being there!! It was nice and warm.

Where is Pistache?

Looking forward to your restaurant reviews!

Have fun!

:hysterical: I'll have to remember that line. I usually use "I'm allergic to paying retail," but I really like your quote.

Yes, that is our church, and we try to worship there often . . . ."thou shalt never ever pay full price."

Last night we ate at the Palm Beach Steak House on Bradley Place, - you make a left after you come off the Flagler Bridge. We had a Restaurant.com coupon for $25 - but the prix fixe was a better deal. $25 plus some entrees had a $3-5 add-on- included 1st course, entree, dessert, coffee. DH has strip steak (+$3) - a ala carte is was $40 (waiter said *maybe* slightly larger steak??? still took home leftovers!) - and did not include salad, etc.
I had stroganoff - lunch today on this (actually, tomorrow - going to a ball game today!) With drinks/tax - $77. Bar bill was about $20 of this. Use MR card - 2 for 1.

Weather is warm, gentle breeze Surf had bee TOO rough to swim (and my knees are bad again - no walking on sand for me!) but pool and hot tub are great. Nice a quiet here - totally mellowed out. Filled fridge at Whole Foods - we are 2 content critters. More to follow . . . .

If anybody goes to 3800 Ocean (formerly Solu), remember you can charge your dinner bill to your Ocean Pointe room, thereby getting Marriott Reward Points. That was the only good thing about our disappointing dinner there.
You have to ask the server to charge it to your OP room.

We are also at Ocean Pointe this week in the Kingfish building. Tonight we went to eat at 264 The Grill, located at 264 South County Rd, in Palm Beach. Great dinner and good service. It was also nice to have the $25 resturant.com coupon. Went to the Marriott presentation at Oceana Palms and got 17,500 MR pts without any hassle. Wind has been strong, but temps have been in the upper 70's. :)

Sounds like we are just a day behind you - we are going to 264 either today or tomorrow, and to a presentation (I know, I know . . . .we gave in because I am not walking too well right now, and some plans have changed) on Thursday.

Smooth Air,
The presentation lasted two hours. Got a tour of the facility along with the sales pitch for the point system. We asked few questions and was not pressured. However it did go beyond the 90 minutes. All in all, it was a good experience. No we did not buy. We are not interested in points. Oceana Palms is two high rise buildings, whereas Ocean Pointe is several buildings spread out along the beach front. IMO, I think there are more opportunities for ocean front views at Ocean Pointe.

Our experience almost exactly. Saleslady was either fuzzy, or not trying to make us feel pressured. She could tell we knew our stuff, and did our homework - and we told up her up front that we were NOT buying a thing. Got a tour this time ( REFUSED by salesperson last time!!!) and yes, this is a lovely place. tired to convince us that we NEED points so we can be Grand Imperial Poo-Bah Premiere owners - and then realized that some of our points would come in only every OTHER year . . . oops - too far to try to try to talk us into buying any more. We think that the next time we come to Palm Beach Shores, we will stay in a 1 BR at Ocean Watch - the guest suite was too cramped for us.

Flying home, we got out early to beat the Shamrock Run and the kazoo-band parade. When we landed in NY, we found that our early arrival at the WPB airport caused out BAGS to be sent out on an earlier flight, with those of a half-dozen others. Some confusion upon landing, and no bags popping out of the carousel! Turned out OK. Delta. Got moved to escape-row seats (just told to stow my cane!) because they needed to sit little kids near their parents. So - my poor knees had more room!

Thanks for this suggestion Brian. We ate at Entrenous tonight with friends. The presentation of the food was beautiful and delicious. Everyone was impressed that it was so good considering it was in an undescript strip mall. We ordered from the price fixed menu. It was one to keep on the list for returns.

Glad you enjoyed it...the price fixed dinners were really good.

PA BBQ is just up the road, same side, at 525. If you like ribs his is the place and they give FF miles too IDine members. Here's their website and menu. Zagat rated too but very casual.
