Has anyone ever found inexpensive restaurants near Mayan Acapulco that don't require a taxi ride into downtown Acapulco?

Anyone ever gone to Bonfil / Barra Vieja down the coast from Acapulco? The concierge recommended a restaurant in Bonfil called Alejo. We never made it there. I wonder what the little town would've been like. Instead we went to Puerto Marquez, north of Mayan Palace, and it was impoverished and depressing.

We went to 7 Leagues once. It was pretty good and inexpensive. Only the owner speaks English. There were quite a few locals there. It is on the main highway. When we came back to the GM, I was surprised that we were so close to the Sea Garden from this restaurant. It was too far to walk, but a lot closer than downtown. Most good taxi drivers will know some good places close to the MP/GM.

The Italian place at the Sea Garden is pretty good too. You can charge to your room. Sea Garden restaurant prices are generally not as high as MP/GM prices.

Thanks. We did make it to the Italian place a couple of times (Il Forno di Gio?). It's just a shame that the resort is so desperate for you to spend your money with them that they won't make more info available about other places in the area.
