I also posted this on the Wyndham board but no one has responded.........

While searching for a rental for my upcoming vacation I found just what I was looking for at ResortQuest.....but right under the name it said "A Wyndham Vacation Rental"

Before I rent through ResortQuest I wanted to check here to find out the connection - should I try to find one of my TUG Wyndham owner friends and see if they can get me a better deal? (if so where would I post this....Rentals wanted?)

What is the connection? - ResortQuest has some wonderful rentals in areas and unit sizes I really need.

Anyone know anything about this? If the rental price to the public is about $1400......per week.......what kind of deal could a Wyndham owner get?

Thanks so much
Judy

Depends on the season and the location. I have gotten GREAT rentals from Wyndham mega points owners/renters that I connected with through TUG. Wyndham is making it harder for them to do business with you at an attractive price, and yet the game isn't over yet. I expect and hope that one of those points owners will PM you in the next day or two to see if there is a connection that works for both of you. Good luck!

What is available to Wyndham owners

So does this mean that when Wyndham owners look at availability they can see what's available at ResortQuest too? Do you know if ResortQuest opens all its availability to Wyndham owners (maybe last minute?)

Can Wyndham owners reserve anything that's available on a week to week exchange basis or is the availability at ResortQuest some how converted or assigned points and then Wyndham owners can use their points?

Just wondering what the Timeshare relationship/conversion/access may be for Wyndham owners.

Thank you,
Judy

I am not aware of any access to ResortQuest bookings through Wyndham timeshare points and I usually read everything.

As a wyndham owner I cant see resort quest availability and I cant use my wyndham points to "rent" what might be available at resort quest. The simple answer to your question "Just wondering what the Timeshare relationship/conversion/access may be for Wyndham owners". is I think None

Thank you

Thanks guys - if there isn't a connection that's too bad but I didn't want to lose out on any possible deal or savings if there was.

It just caught my eye and I knew someone here at TUG would know the details if there were a deal to be made.

THANKS.

Why hide the ball? Everything so far has been hypothetical.

Post the locations and dates and see what kind of response you get from folks here.

That's funny... A developer giving point owners more access!

So does this mean that when Wyndham owners look at availability they can see what's available at ResortQuest too? Do you know if ResortQuest opens all its availability to Wyndham owners (maybe last minute?)

You can't think of this is a two way street.. Most developers will be able to take timeshare inventory out when it hits the breakage period and has not yet been reserved by a points owner. The only way to add timeshare inventory is to add more resorts or vacation club units to the developer portfolio, but this is done with the intent of future sales and not simply to fulfill reservation requests.

Wyndham can put its rental inventory into ResortQuest, but would never take that inventory out and make it available to point owners. If there is no availability remaining for point owners, these consumers are then forced to rent those desired vacations for ca$h creating more profit for Wyndham.

ResortQuest was very good at offering vacation rentals along the Emerald Coast of Florida and in Myrtle Beach, two areas which created quite a bit of rental competition for Wyndham. When Wyndham purchased the company, they eliminated that competition!

Devouring these types of companies simply gives Wyndham more of a stranglehold on the rental market. Wyndham's rental side of the business is very smart, and very aggressive..

Looking at Kiawah

Where I am trying to travel to is Kiawah island. We haven't been there before and we were trying to find something the first week in April. There is ResortQuest Availability - I don't think there are ANY timeshares in this location.

We've stayed on Seabrook (the other half of this barrier island) but there aren't any timeshares in Seabrook either.

We're also looking for 3 bedrooms....which is why timeshares don't always work well for my family.....timeshares are really limited in the number of 3 bedrooms available.

I always check TUG first....but I think maybe timeshare owners mainly only "do" timeshares.....maybe I'm wrong....anyone with any leads can pass them along regarding Kiawah.

THANKS,
Judy
