Due to a health issue that keeps me from traveling far from home I am not able to use my timeshare at Villa del Palmar in Cabo (haven't been for many years). Attemps to give away the timeshare (including Premier membership) have proven to be unsuccessful. I crossed my fingers, called ResortCom, explained my situation (paid maintenance fees on time for 14 years, have 16 years left on membership) and asked if I may surrender. Yes. They took it back. Granted, I could have waited months/years for someone to buy it for $1, but in the meantime I would be paying maintenance fees. I'm sure many folks will think I should have 'stuck it out' and tried harder to sell it, but there's a point of diminishing return for effort. I listed on many sites (Redweek, TUG, eBay, Vacationtimesharerentals) with no responses. AND, thanks to the education I have obtained from all of the members of TUG, I have purchased a timeshare in Sedona (at a great price) which I will be able to use (close to home in Phoenix). THANK YOU, TUG members/leaders for all of the information. It was "education by fire hose" and worth every drop of data.
